How Much Is a Charizard Worth? The 15 Most Valuable Cards to Look Out For

If you've got some cards from 1995, they may have some serious value.

Jason Koeppel // ONE37pm

I have heard this story so many times:

"I grew up collecting Pokemon cards and they are in a box in my closet. I even have some Charizards! How do I know if they have any value? How much is a Charizard worth?"

Below, I am going to give you the ultimate countdown for the fifteen of the most valuable Charizards ever printed. However, it is important to note that if you have any of these cards, they aren't necessarily worth the premium auction prices that a gem mint 10 would receive. And if you're planning on buying any of these cards, make sure to get up to date on how to spot a fake!

If your Pokemon cards have been protected throughout the years and are in excellent condition, you are going to want to send them off to a grading company. Getting your cards graded enables them to receive a score on the condition (typically 1-10), which will help dictate how well they fare in the secondary market. For help on figuring out how to sell your Pokemon cards, check out this article.

Let’s see how many you own and if you are up to date on recent sales. Here are the fifteen most valuable Charizards in all of the Pokémon TCG, a few of which ended up on our list of the 31 most expensive Pokemon cards ever sold!

Hands down, this is our #1 pick for artwork on a Charizard card. The galactic background helps the card pop, and we’ll talk more later about the aesthetic appeal of the early 2000s e-readers. With only 44 PSA 10s in existence, this is a tough one to get your hands on. Regardless, it would be a fine crown jewel to any Pokémon collection.

Likely the most obscure Charizard on the list, this set was produced in Japan only by Bandai-Namco. Interestingly enough, these condition-sensitive cards actually released before the initial TCG release in Japan. They feature immaculate artwork of the Gen. 1 Pokémons, which includes a glimpse of Charizard that holds up incredibly well 28 years later.
