In the heart of the Diamond District is TraxNYC. A custom jewelry spot, TraxNYC is owned by Maksud “Trax” Agadjani. He got his start in the jewelry business at the ripe age of 18. After graduating from high school, Agadjani used $1,500 he received on his birthday to invest in what would become TraxNYC. He bought a digital camera and built a relationship with businessmen at a jewelry store. He took photos of jewelry pieces in-store and put the pieces up on eBay. When Agadjani made a sale online, he returned to the jewelry store where he took the picture, purchased the jewelry he took photos of and mailed the piece to the online buyer.

Agadjani eventually transformed his middle-man hustle into a business, opening up an office first before developing a store. He’s built a strong social media presence with daily videos ranging from day-to-day business operations to news coverage. TraxNYC has 780,000 followers on Instagram, 47,500 subscribers on YouTube and over 1 million likes on Facebook. His work has included creating custom pieces for the likes of Cardi B, Ski Mask the Slump God, Young MA and Safaree.

Agadjani’s social media impact eventually led him to acting, specifically in the role of Yussi, the fed-up assistant of Adam Sandler’s character Howard Ratner in the recent hit Uncut Gems, which stars Sandler, Julia Fox and Kevin Garnett. Agadjani spoke with ONE37pm about how he ended up in Uncut Gems, how he started his business and his brief run as a jeweler for Tekashi69.
