It’s that time of the week again TikTok peeps. We are rounding up the latest and greatest in the TikTok community, and as usual we have some new trends and challenges to try out. It never ceases to amaze us how things can change week to week in the TikTok world, and sometimes it can be hard to keep up! This week is all about the music, and of course, the throwbacks. Throwback jams have become such a staple on the platform that the VMAs have introduced a “Best Comeback Song” category at the MTV VMAs (Destiny’s Child’s “Bills Bills Bills” single from 1999 is projected to win this year) which is cool because that means the classics can get love decades after their release. Let’s dive in shall we?
Mariah Carey and Frank Ocean Dominate This Week In TikTok
Here's what's poppin in TikTok land this week
1. Still Falling For You (From "Bridget Jones's Baby)- Ellie Goulding
You already know Ellie Goulding is going to bring the feel good love songs, and that is exactly what this challenge is about. "Still Falling For You" is currently inspiring TikTok videos about love and marriage which is neat because tons of people have weddings, engagements, etc., in the fall. If you are currently in love, then this definitely a trend to participate in.
2. Novacane- Frank Ocean
Does Frank Ocean’s music ever get old? The answer to that is a resounding no. This isn’t the first time the artist has dominated amongst the top spots in TikTok trends, and creators are currently inspired to go through the Frank Ocean checklist in his song “Novacane” which is:"stripper booty, rack like wow, brain like Berkeley." It’s up to you guys how you want to tackle that specific line, but the ultimate goal is to have fun.
3. "Fantasy" Mariah Carey
We’re taking it all the way back to 1997, and it’s all thanks to Ryan Reynolds. The star used Mariah Carey’s iconic track "Fantasy" in a promotional post for his new movie, "Free Guy," and Mariah Carey in turn made a response video. So now TikTokers are making their own response videos in response to their responses. Get it?
4. In Da Ghetto- J Balvin & Skrillex
Music but make it comedy. Creator/ superstar Khaby Lame is the originator of this trend with his comedic content over top of the track. So if you are heavily into music and happen to have a funny side, then this one's for you.
Well that's gonna do it for this week. We'll be back next week with the newest trends in TikTok. Something tell us it will be Chloe Bailey.
