It’s Flavors Friday, and you know what that means. On this week’s episode of Down the Hatch, ONE37pm’s resident Captain of Flavor Barry Flavors is back again with another tasting extravaganza. This week, Barry takes on Queens Comfort, a local eatery and mainstay of Astoria since 2011. He tries three of their tasty signature sandwiches, followed by a review and, as always, a couple of wise cracks.

Queens Comfort serves self-proclaimed “No Holds Barred Comfort Fusion” and that ethos is on full display in Barry’s sandwich selection. The first item is “The Pig Mac Sandwich”, a play on the McDonald’s Big Mac, but features a fried pork cutlet rather than a traditional burger patty. No holds barred? Check. Comfort food? Check. Fusion? Check!

He follows the “Pig Mac” with “The Captain Crunch Chicken Sandwich”, one of Queens Comfort’s signature sammies, which features fried chicken encrusted in a special Cap’n Crunch flake breading. It’s hard to think of a more unique sandwich, and Barry agrees: “I really like the originality.”

He closes his tasting trifecta with the simplest sandwich of the bunch, “The Meatloaf Sandwich.” This option is equal part tasting opportunity and equal part an opportunity to make jokes about Meat Loaf, the singer. But if you want to know what Barry thinks of the sandwich, you’ll have to watch the episode!

If you love this episode and want to watch Barry scarf down even more tasty treats, make sure to check out last week’s episode, when he took on Berg’s Pastrami.
