Detroit: Become Human does a great job of building its world, establishing characters and then developing characters and their relationships with each other, which makes the ingredients for a game that makes you empathise with its cast. Following Connor, Kara and Markus is a joy.

Some will argue that a game that was originally released in 1997 shouldn’t make the cut for this list, but Final Fantasy VII Remake was speculated about for a decade before its 2015 announcement.
