When the topic of cross-generation games enters the conversation, two camps arise - one that’s fine with new titles reading across past- and current-generation consoles since it gives more gamers an opportunity to experience it for themselves. And one that would prefer an upcoming game being developed and released solely for current-gen hardware in order for that game to look and play its best due to the advancements of that new console. I’m sure both camps have no issue with cross-gen console peripherals, however. Noted gaming headset maker has a brand new model out that’s compatible with the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles. And thankfully, it works as a top-tier pair of headphones that will quickly become your go-to headset for either primary PS hardware. The HyperX Cloud Wireless gaming headset looks and sounds like a dream.

From a visual standpoint, the HyperX Cloud Wireless looks extremely sleek as it sports a beautiful shade of black. And once it’s powered on, blue lighting accentuates the HyperX logo etched onto both sides of the headset. The comfortability factor is also high thanks to the adjustable steel sliders attached to the headband and HyperX signature memory foam within the headphones themselves. Gaming for hours on end with these bad boys on never invites your head and ears to feelings of discomfort. And speaking of hours, you can play for up to 30 hours on a single charge - this total runtime for the HyperX Cloud Flight is commendable and one of its best features. I made sure to test how far I could walk away from my PS5 with this headset on and was happy to know that I could walk into another room and still have a great audio connection. The 2.4GHz wireless connection works to perfection.

The HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless delivers top-tier audio feedback. The audio produced by the games I played and the videos I viewed all came through as clear as possible - even at its maximum volume, this headset’s bass levels never overwhelmed me. The headset’s closed cup design and 50mm drivers allow for a highly immersive in-game audio experience. The attachable/detachable microphone that comes with this headset also provides great audio feedback - I got no complaints from the folks I played with during the types of games that tend to produce booming soundscapes (like military first-person shooters, for instance). Having a LED pop up to notify you of when the mic is off is a godsend, by the way. That simple addition does an adequate job of easily notifying you of when you are or aren’t mic’d up.

Another feature from the HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless that deserves praise is its 90-degree rotating ear cups. This design choice makes it easy to place the headset in a safer position when not in use as it lays comfortably on its memory foams. This is the ideal way to charge them as they sit atop your PS4/PS5. All in all, the HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless gaming headset provides a worthy option for PlayStation console owners who are in the market for a brand new set of headphones. The attractive color scheme, high comfortability factor, long-lasting battery life, and amazing audio feedback all add up to produce a headset that’s top of the line.
