The Biggest Games Releasing in January 2022

If you enjoyed the Lucha Libre-infused Metroidvania game Guacamelee!, then you'll want to keep an eye on this brand new action RPG from the developers that made that aforementioned gem. Nobody Saves The World places you in the role of someone called a “featureless nobody" that's capable of changing into a bunch of different forms. Those forms are all battle-ready, such as a dragon, a robot, and even a monk! Having the ability to customize each of those forms to your liking (you can make a rat that shoots out fireballs!) makes Nobody Saves The World one of the quirkier games of the year.

2015's Rainbow Six Siege has been going strong for a good while now as a destination title for tactical co-op multiplayer fans. Ubisoft Montreal is going to take a wealth of Operators from that popular game and throw them all into a world stricken by an alien takeover. Those aliens are referred to as the "Archaeans," who come in standard and special variants that you'll need to eliminate with your favorite Operator's signature toolset. It's up to you and your three-person steam to infiltrate alien-infested locales and see all your objectives through to successful completion.

The 1994 Neo Geo arcade game Windjammers is a cult classic that even brings the hype as a side title at fighting game tournaments. Publisher/developer Dotemu has done a bang-up job of remaking retro experiences and releasing all new entries within those types of beloved franchises. So it makes a ton of sense for Dotemu to revive the Windjammers IP with an entirely new installment that features a new coat of HD paint. Windjammers 2 features the same fast-paced and highly addictive disc throwing matches that fans have grown accustomed to. This sequel's two extra minigames are just the cherry on top of an already amazing experience.

The Azure Striker Gunvolt games have done an admirable job of producing Mega Man X-like experiences that stick close to the fast-paced 2D shoot 'em up platforming game plan. The Gunvolt Chronicles series sticks close to that winning formula as a new series that places anti-hero Copen into the main protagonist position. Copen can zip around a bunch of enemy-filled side-scrolling stages full of other sorts of dangers and hold his own via a vast array of weaponry & the assistance of a robot named Lola. Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2 will put you on the road to plenty of hacking and slashing, which we're sure you'll greatly enjoy.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is being referred to by many as the Breath of the Wild, but with Pocket Monsters. And that's because this fresh take on the monster collecting/battling procedure throws trainers into the Hisui region long before the events of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl. Players can actually take direct damage from wild Pokémon, capture them directly while exploring the game's overworld, and craft their own Poké Balls. The mythical Pokémon Arceus and creating Hisui's first Pokédex are the game's main objectives that should compel you to journey through this new take on Game Freak's legacy series.
