On the very same day that we got a brand new Nintendo Direct, Sony Interactive Entertainment decided to drop a live stream event of its own. The latest State of Play came through to showcase 10 games spread out across the PS5, PS4, and PS VR2. Over the course of 20 minutes, everyone got a better look at a lineup of games that are set to get featured prominently at this year's Tokyo Game Show (September 15 to 18) and some pretty cool surprises. 'Tekken 8'
We got our first official first look at Tekken 8, which is slated for PS5. This trailer showcased a pretty exciting clash between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama that looked as if the game will mix in epic cinematic moments during the hardest-hitting blows landed by either player.
'Star Wars: Tales From the Galaxy's Edge - Enhanced Edition'
A new and improved version of this virtual reality Star Wars-themed experience is dropping on PlayStation VR2 in 2023.
'Demeo'
Demeo is a virtual reality tabletop RPG that is currently in development for PSVR2.
'Like a Dragon: Ishin!
Sega's Yakuza spinoff Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin!, which was first released on PS3 in 2014, is getting a remake for PS5 called Like a Dragon: Ishin! that's coming in February 2023. This remake is being developed via Unreal Engine 4 and will feature a wealth of graphical improvements for the game's characters and environments.
'Hogwarts Legacy'
Hogwarts Legacy popped up during this State of Play to debut new footage of an exclusive PS5 mission that'll take place within the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop. This magical Harry Potter adventure is planned for release on February 10, 2023.
'Pacific Drive'
This new first-person, survival game is being developed by Ironwood Studios for PS5 and is slated for launch in 2023.
'Synduality'
Bandai Namco announced a new sci-fi third-person shooter called Synduality that features big mechs blasting big baddies solo or with three other fellow mechs in battle. This PS5 game is coming in 2023.
'Stellar Blade'
The game formerly known as Project EVE now has an official name - Stellar Blade. This melee-focused action game is dropping on PS5 as a console exclusive in 2023.
'Rise of the Ronin'
Koei Tecmo dropped a trailer for a brand new IP called Rise of the Ronin, which will follow a lone warrior engaging in bloody blade-based gameplay across feudal Japan. This PS5 console exclusive is releasing in 2024.
'God of War Ragnarök'
The sequel to 2018's God of War got to end this PlayStation State of Play presentation on a very strong note. First, we got to see the debut of the God of War Ragnarök-themed DualSense controller. And once that piece of footage came to a close, we got a brand new gameplay trailer for the game that showcases plenty of storyline moments and huge boss battles. The one that piqued everyone's interest the most was the trailer-ending clash between Kratos and Thor, which saw both Kratos' trusty ax and Thor's Mjölnir hammer clash with each other in the heat of battle.
