Daymond John has been a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry for nearly 30 years. He’s also established a reputation for his expertise in style, hip-hop, as well as his business acumen. John founded the iconic FUBU label in 1992, and the brand quickly became synonymous with hip-hop culture. Since then, John has built a multi-million dollar empire and has since expanded his focus on helping rising entrepreneurs through outlets such as Shark Tank, while continuing to do his part in impacting the African-American community.

John’s next step is the launch of Black Entrepreneurs Day. A free and virtual event that will provide advice and guidance to rising African-American entrepreneurs, and will also empower them with different sets of resources that they can take advantage of.

“It’s something our team wanted to come together and do. We were really trying to find ways to figure out how we could come together and further help the Black community after the murder of George Floyd. We were trying to figure out how we could leverage the access that we have, and we came up with a couple of ideas. We felt this was a good one, and started calling up some of our good friends and people that we knew, and they were pumped about it. We all just wanted to create an event that would empower the Black community. We called Shaq, and he was really excited about it too. We’ve really been blown away by the response. It’s been amazing.”

John will also be awarding $225,000 to Black business owners through the NAACP. The lucky winners will also get a chance to have one on one mentorship with John himself.

“We are super excited about the 225k giveaway. We are in partnership with the NAACP, and we wanted to team up with the organization to really help make the event even more official. We are excited to see how these business owners use the money to help their businesses and their communities.”

The event will be hosted by John and co-hosted by Angela Yee, while also featuring special guest appearances among the likes of Gabrielle Union, Shaq, Dwyane Wade, Chance The Rapper, LL Cool J, and more. Chance The Rapper will also be performing along with Questlove.

It’s amazing and awesome to have these stars, and we’re excited for the Chance and Questlove performances. Chance is so philanthropic himself. We wanted these stars to help make the event even bigger and better, and they were excited about it as well.
