Richard Branson has been investing in space travel since 2004, when he created Virgin Galactic, a company that seeks to make commercial space travel a reality. And now, it's about to pay off—Branson said recently that he expects the company's first test flights to take place "within weeks, not months," according to CNBC.

Virgin Galactic has been in a space race with Amazon for a few years, as both companies attempted to get their commercial space companies operational—so this could be what it takes to give Virgin the lead. But regardless, taking a trip to space is not gonna come cheap: Tickets on the Virgin Galactic SpaceShip Two are gonna cost you a cool quarter million.

What do you think: Is the opportunity to see the earth from space worth that much?
