Immutable X is the first Layer 2 Ethereum NFT marketplace — eliminating the need for those pesky gas fees. Immutable X’s goal is to make minting and trading NFTs easier than trading traditional digital assets.
Let’s learn how to set up an Immutable X wallet so we can make use of the innovative platform.
When you navigate to the website, the first thing you’ll need to do is to enter the trading section.
To make trades, you need to connect your ETH wallet to Immutable X.
The most common add-on for connecting your wallet to any platform is Metamask. You can learn more about how to set up a Metamask wallet here.
After connecting your wallet, you’ll need to set up an immutable x key. To set up an Immutable X key, you need to make sure your wallet (like Metamask) is properly connected. Look for your public wallet address and ensure the last few digits match with your wallet.
Once your wallet is connected, you will need to sign approval to create a key. Agree to the terms and conditions and set up your Immutable X key. This is just granting your wallet permission to communicate with a new platform, nothing to worry about.
But always double check to make sure it is not a phishing attempt: check to see all names, domains, and addresses look accurate.
To deposit funds into your Immutable X wallet, navigate to the Inventory tab and click on the deposit tab in the top right corner. For this article, I’m going to deposit Ether into my Immutable X wallet. However, you can deposit other currencies like GODS, IMX and USDC.
If you want to migrate funds to your Immutable X wallet, you will need some ETH in your wallet. To purchase ETH, you can use a centralized exchange like Coinbase. Enter the ETH amount you want to bring into Immutable X and hit continue.
Keep in mind you are removing funds from your wallet and migrating it into your Immutable X wallet. These funds will no longer show up in your Metamask.
Note: Some users in the Immutable X discord are experiencing a bug where they are unable to deposit funds into their wallet through this method and receive an error message. As a workaround, some users have been depositing ETH into their Immutable X wallet through Token Trove instead, allowing them to trade on the marketplace. We will update this article once the bug is resolved by the IMX team.
Once your funds appear in your Immutable X wallet, you can navigate the marketplace and make some wagmi-vibes diamond-hand trades.
Voila! You can now trade NFTs with zero gas fees on Layer 2 Ethereum.
