Known to the hockey world as the “Subbanator," P.K. Subban has become one of the sport’s brightest superstars. He brings an exciting new energy to the ice and is one of the top athletes to watch out for in North America. The Toronto native’s in-rink skills and hard-hitting plays earned him the 2013 Norris Trophy, an award given to the NHL’s best defenseman, and in 2016 led the Nashville Predators to their first ever Stanley Cup Finals appearance in the same season he was involved in a blockbuster trade from the Montreal Canadians. He also made waves earlier this year by making a charitable commitment of $10 million to Montreal Children's Hospital, an enormous amount for an active athlete.
P.K. Subban Is Building an Empire
The charitable New Jersey Devil is as well-rounded an investor and marketer as they come.
But it’s his unique taste and admirable swagger that have made him a target for big endorsement campaigns. Capitalizing on that demand, Subban created his own marketing company, P.K.S.S Management. By founding his own marketing company, Subban made it easier to establish relationships with major corporations and then have those brands collaborate together. This game-changing move helped Subban land endorsement deals with the likes of Samsung, Bridgestone, Adidas and Air Canada. In addition, thanks to his affinity for men's suiting, he was able to become the spokesman of RW-CO line of men suits while recently becoming the cover athlete for the hit EA Sports video game, NHL 19.
Most recently, Subban announced a partnership with NBC Sports on an hourlong television special—which will air right after the NHL's All-Star Game on January 26th and feature interviews with and appearances by the sport's biggest stars—as well as a digital series called The P.K. Project. The latter will be produced by Subban's production company and will showcase his life in Nashville, making him the latest athlete to enter the programming game with a perspective that extends beyond the sport.
For an active athlete, Subban has showcased a versatility and sensibility in different industries. With so much activity in recent years, you get the sense his footprint will only continue to grow.
