Ariel will be portrayed by Halle Bailey. Bailey was cast in the role in 2019 after an extensive casting search. The film will mark Bailey's first starring feature film role, and some of her previous credits include portraying Skylar "Sky" Foster on Grownish from 2018 to 2022. Bailey is also one-half of the musical duo Chloe x Halle with her sister Chloe Bailey. You can expect more Halle Bailey in film this year as she will portray Young Nettie in the upcoming movie musical The Color Purple.

Melissa McCarthy will portray Ursula, which is a dream come true for her.

Additionally, Sebastian the crab will be voiced by Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay will take on the duties of Flounder the fish, and Awkwafina will voice Scuttle. Believe it or not, we're still finding out details about the cast and characters despite being roughly three weeks away from the premiere. We still don't have the full details on all of Ariel's six sisters, and there are more announcements on who's playing what character that we assume we'll be out before the 26th. We'll make sure to update this article when those details are announced.

Once again, The Little Mermaid hits theaters on May 26th. Also releasing in May is the White Men Can't Jump remake starring Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls. Check out everything you need to know about the film here.
