Italian soccer player Paolo Di Canio never had a reputation as a great sport. In fact, he once famously pushed a referee to the ground after getting a red card. But during a 2000 game against Everton, he showed his sportsmanship by picking up the ball and stopping play after Everton goalie Paul Gerrard dislocated his knee. The game was tied and it would have been West Ham’s chance to win the game, but instead Paolo wanted to give the team a fair shake.
