Of course, this week’s MMA discussions consisted of a lot of dialogue around the peculiar finish in the Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan championship bout that occurred last weekend. In the opening rounds, the bout appeared rather competitive, but as the fight went on, Yan continued to land power shots. In the fourth round, Yan landed an illegal knee to Sterling’s head. The fight resulted in a disqualification and Sterling was awarded the UFC bantamweight belt.
To me, this seemed clear as daylight. The blow was illegal. There was no gray area involved. This is a black and white, DQ.
