Alisson Joins Exclusive Goalkeeper Company After Scoring

The father of Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel, Peter, became the first goalkeeper in the Premier League era to score a goal.

With Villa trailing by two goals at the time, Schmeichel’s goal served as a minor consolation in stoppage time but still a historic finish nonetheless.

In the first of two American goalkeeper goals, Friedel seemingly had the equalizer for Blackburn Rovers in 2004, but his late goal wasn’t enough to keep the score level at 2-2.

Unfortunately, Blackburn would go on to concede after Friedel’s late tap in when Claus Jensen beat the American with a stunning half volley.

While Robinson probably didn’t expect his long free kick clearance to go into the Watford goal nearly 14 years ago, it’s hard to imagine anyone in the stadium that day did either.

Robinson easily kicked the ball over 65 yards before it bounced over Ben Foster in the opposing net. Spurs enjoyed a comfortable 3-1 win over Watford on that day at White Hart Lane.

Howard’s accomplishment is easily the most impressive on this list for a variety of reasons. 

First, his goal originated from a back pass that he needed to hit perfectly to get it anywhere near the opposing goal. Next, the wind against Bolton was absolutely insane and the ball could’ve really gone anywhere.

A tremendous achievement for Howard despite suffering a 2-1 loss on the day.

Not only did Begovic break Howard’s record for distance with his goal in 2013, but the Stoke keeper also scored the quickest goal for a shot stopper at roughly 14 seconds.

The match finished in a 1-1 draw, unfitting for the tremendous goal Begovic tallied.

Liverpool’s UCL hopes for next season aren’t salvaged just yet, but if they are, Alisson will be thanked by many for his heroics.

The Brazilian has shown creativity with the ball at his feet during his years at Anfield, but it could be his forehead that actually gives the Reds hope at reaching Europe next season.
