Alisson Joins Exclusive Goalkeeper Company After Scoring

It’s quite rare to see a goalkeeper score a goal, which is kind of crazy considering how many late-game situations a shot stopper will be thrown forward as a last-ditch effort to salvage a result from a match.

For just the sixth time in Premier League history, a goalie accomplished this feat though when Liverpool’s Allisson rescued a late winner off his head against West Bromwich Albion.

The Reds were in desperate need of a win as they try to claim a UEFA Champions League spot with just two matches remaining in the Premier League season.

While some of the previous five goalkeeper finishes have been more impressive (you’ll see what I mean), we can’t take anything away from Alisson’s achievement, which is beyond rare to see not just in England but any league worldwide.

Let’s take a look back at all six goalkeeper goals in Premier League history.

PETER SCHMEICHEL vs. Everton (2001)

BRAD FRIEDEL vs. Charlton Athletic (2004)

PAUL ROBINSON vs. Watford (2007)

TIM HOWARD vs. Bolton Wanderers (2012)

ASMIR BEGOVIC vs. Southampton (2013)

ALISSON vs. West Bromwich Albion (2021)
