It’s already been a whirlwind of a season in the NBA so far, and the action has been non-stop over the last couple days. With the G-League season being officially postponed until January 5th due to players being called up to the NBA amidst the recent COVID outbreak, we thought we would start a weekly series highlighting NBA G-League teams that you should be on your radar. The season is sure to be exciting when it starts back up, so let’s not waste anymore time and get straight to it as we’ll be previewing four teams each week.
Four NBA G-League Teams To Watch Out For
Each week we'll be bringing you four teams in the G-League to watch out for
1. Santa Cruz Warriors
The Santa Cruz Warriors looked good in their December 9th matchup against the Agua Caliente Clippers. Moses Moody was a bright spot scoring 37 points, with contributions from Jonathan Kuminga, and guard Quinndary Weatherspoon who recently signed a 10-day contract with the Golden State Warriors, amidst a season average of 16.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. Santa Cruz has a lot of potential when the season resumes, so make sure you keep an eye on them.
2. Raptors 905
The Raptors are a team that also has a lot of potential, and were on the verge of turning around what had been an up and down season in their December 8th matchup against the Capital City Go-Go, snapping a four-game losing streak. Malachi Flynn and Dalano Banton are just two of the many players that you should be peeking at on the team, and 905 showed what they are really capable of when they lock in—especially on defense. Let’s see what they can do.
3. Cleveland Charge
Jumping all the way to Cleveland, Ohio, let’s take a quick look at the Cleveland Charge. The Charge had their first game of the 2021 NBA G League Winter Showcase on December 21st, which unfortunately was a loss to the Salt Lake City Stars, but the Charge saw a great performance from Justin James who scored 26 points, and Malik Newman who netted 25. Those are some positive plus signs that the Charge have to look forward to when the season returns, and forward Tre Scott just received a 10 day contract from the Cleveland Cavaliers a few days ago.
4. Iowa Wolves
Making our way to Iowa, the Wolves had a strong showing against the Greensboro Swarm with a slew of double doubles. Their game against Greensboro was a great way to pause the season, and the Wolves have a ton to look forward to when they come back. Malik Benlevi, Vincent Edwards, and Canyon Berry are all big names that should be on your radar as we approach that January 5th date. Definitely continue to keep an eye on the Wolves!
We'll that's gonna wrap up this week's installment. Be sure to stay tuned as we highlight more teams and player in the days to come.
