Every generation has had its style icons that have helped shaped pop culture and the larger conversation around fashion, forging new rules for how guys can dress. For millennials, gender fluidity and redefining gender roles have been key to their identities, which has ultimately transitioned into their wardrobe choices. The steady boom in streetwear and skate culture has also shaped the narrative, successfully discarding outdated dress codes built around rigid ideas of masculinity.

The emergence of celebrities like Harry Styles, Ansel Elgort and Luka Sabbat, who have wholeheartedly embraced these ideas, has only further solidified this shift towards genderless fashion. But as we move to the New Year, why not look at a new generation of fashionable men? From Timothée Chalamet to Presley Gerber, here’s who we’ll be looking to for style inspiration in 2019.

Timothée Chalamet

If there’s one guy who’s spearheading the conversation around gender fluidity, it’s Timothée Chalamet. After bolting his way through Hollywood with hits like Call Me By Your Name and Beautiful Boy, the 22-year-old New Yorker has become somewhat of a red carpet darling for his sharp and tailored fashion choices. Untethered by trends or the flash of Hollywood, Chalamet offers a fresh and young take on the black tie with his evolving set of blazers, dinner jackets and velvet suits.

Ezra Miller

Ezra Miller has been making headlines of late for a number of reasons—his impressive performance in the Fantastic Beasts franchise being only one of them. A cursory scroll across Google or Instagram will tell you the actor and singer has also become a contemporary style icon, with scores of articles dedicated to unlocking his wardrobe selections. From fishnet stockings and stilettos to rabbit years and duvet-dresses, the 26-year-old is schooling the latest generation of men on how to dress for the new age.

Hikaru Ota

Hikaru Ota is one of Japan’s best-kept style secrets. And if it weren’t for Netflix picking up the Japanese reality TV franchise Terrace House, Hikaru Ota’s selection of tailored shirts and streetwear classics would stay hidden from international attention. Ota, who first shot to fame through Terrace House: Boys and Girls in The City as the resident heartbreaker, has since turned into an actor and model.

Blondey McCoy

If there’s anyone who embodies the age of influencer in its truest sense, it’s Blondey McCoy. The 20-year-old professional skater, designer and artist has attained ultimate style icon status for his bold take on streetwear and also establishing his very own label, Thames. And if that’s not remarkable enough, don’t forget, the Valentino and Burberry model who currently holds an inspiring command on the latest trends was nothing more than a high school drop out only a few years ago.

Aron Piper

Aron Piper, the fresh new export from Netflix’s thrilling Spanish drama Elite, arrived on the scene as an impressive new actor but is since fielding a lot of attention for his wardrobe. You only need scroll through the young actor’s Instagram for a taste of his personal style, which edges on ’80s Hollywood and contemporary streetwear. The 21-year-old actor—who plays Ander on the Netflix original—first shot to fame with his appearance in the 2013 Spanish film 15 Years and One Day, and has since amassed over 1.7 million followers on Instagram.

Presley Gerber

Forget Cindy Crawford and Kaia Gerber. The latest member of the Crawford clan turning heads for his off-duty looks is the young Presley Gerber. The 19-year-old is perhaps only second in command to the likes of Timothée Chalamet and Harry Styles when it comes to winding ideas about masculinity through his personal style. The emerging model usually alternates between simple T-shirts and jeans and can also be seen experimenting with prints and patterns by pairing them with classic blazers and formal wear.
