asics 1

Asics has a great reputation as a strong running brand largely due to its Gel technology. The soft and responsive tech has graced a variety of performance and lifestyle silhouettes but really makes a mark on the Quantum 360, a very obvious 360 coverage of gel cushioning catches the eye from the robust and sharply designed midsole.

Review: “Very comfortable, true fit, constructed nicely, you can wear all day and looks good. Getting another pair.” - George on

2. Nike Zoom Fly 3

nike 2 0

What’s up next for Nike is always a talking point. The sneaker brand continues to outpace and outperform its counterparts in the market and one of its more recent running sneakers, the Zoom Fly 3, is another example of how Nike continues its long-tenured reign on the throne of comfort and performance. The Zoom Fly 3 separates itself from the competition with Nike’s React technology as well as a full-length carbon fiber plate for extra support and comfort. The sneaker was part of the 2019 Zoom Series that introduced consumers to the next step in the Nike running line.

3. Adidas Boost 20

The Adidas Ultra Boost product line has been a bastion of comfort, second only to the Swoosh (depends on who you ask) and its been consistently putting out a super comfortable model on an annual basis. For their most recent offering the properly titled “Adidas Ultra Boost 20” has kept pace with the brand’s ability to deliver top-line comfort rival to Nike’s React and Air cushioning.

Review: “Love these shoes. They’ve become my go-to shoes for comfort and style. You won’t regret these. Can wear them comfortably all day.” - Gary on

4. Nike Space Hippie 01

The Nike Space Hippie is the most recent sneaker to feature recyclable materials. Although it seems to be on the heels of Adidas’ ongoing relationship with Parley it’s nice to see Nike doing its part even if it's in retaliation to a competitor. The Space Hippie project features a number of sneakers, 01-04, and a Zoom-based midsole foam supplemented with other materials that the brand used to discard. This reused material makes for a comfortable ride, not to mention it's in the running to set a benchmark for the future of innovative sneaker tech.

5. Hoka One One Clifton Edge

Hoka One One

Hoka One One is a brand focused on providing the most comfortable and technical runners on the market. The Clifton Edge is just one of their highly engineered silhouettes to deliver such. The sneaker is on the bulkier side but most of their sneakers are, the chunky heel and midsole deliver prime comfort to the wearer and their ultra-lightweight is always a talking point.

Review: “Just received my Clifton Edge and it's AMAZING. The best thing about it is that it's the only shoe that felt super comfortable and "broken-in" right out of the box. It felt just right. Overall, it's the best shoe I've owned so far. Highly recommend it.” - Sean on

6. Saucony Grid 9000

Saucony has a great and bulky silhouette designed to hold as much of the molded EVA foam in the midsole as possible. The extra-thick midsole delivers great support and comfort from a lifestyle sneaker.

Review: “Overall, I want to say these shoes fit great and are incredibly comfortable. I find myself wearing them both at the gym and just hanging out.” - Ryan N. on

7. Asics Gel-Lyte III

Carrying the same great and comfortable Asics gel technology found in their most serious running sneakers, the Gel-Lyte III carries on the tradition in a lifestyle/casual vehicle. The III is one of the more popular Asics silhouettes, its bold color schemes and striking collaborations with Kith’s Ronnie Fieg, the silhouette has become a fan favorite as well as a staple of the casual sneaker world.

8. Nike Epic React Flyknit 2

In 2019 Nike answered back to Adidas’ Boost technology with a cushioned, responsive foam of their own – React. The running sneaker was a big announcement for the brand, they put an extra emphasis on the energy return and marketed the sneaker for some serious mileage but don’t let your amateur running status discourage you from getting into Nike’s most current tech while saving with an older silhouette.

Review: “Most comfortable sneakers I’ve ever worn. Great cushioning and energy return or ‘bounce’ when walking.” - User on

9. Karhu Fusion 2.0

Karhu is a great, low-key Finnish brand that makes a great “If you know, you know” addition to any rotation. The brand has a vintage running heritage that goes back to the 90s. Their chunky silhouettes are a great casual sneaker that’s not from a major sneaker brand and the construction and quality are top-notch. Little details like rope laces and bold colorways make the sneaker a slept-on must-have.

10. Brooks Revel 4

Brooks offers runners a serious running sneaker built for them that also doesn’t look half bad. For really logging miles, the Brooks Revel 4 is one of their better silhouettes that is also loved by their fans. The Revel 4 provides a comfortable, “springy” run that helps support you each step of the way.

Review: “This is one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn for walking, the support and cushion are awesome!” - Curtis M. on

11. Diadora N902 x Packer

Diadora got its start like most brands, moving low cut, high quality, leather tennis sneakers. The simple silhouettes turned into chunkier runners with rich suedes, mesh overlays, and other synthetic materials. The brand displays the nostalgia of vintage heritage on their multiple runners which pack comfort, style, and quality into one package.

Review: “Most comfortable shoe I’ve owned in a long time, excellent for the gym with plenty of support for weightlifting and treadmill use, yet still stylish and clean enough for a lunch date.” - PZ on

12. Salomon Xt-4 ADV

Salomon is one of those brands known for their high tech, outdoorsy silhouettes. With a cinch lace system, waterproof construction, and treaded outsole the sneaker has all the tools for conquering the elements. The Xt-4 ADV silhouette provides great comfort via a chunky midsole designed for all-day comfort and providing support while hiking outdoors. The sneaker has also become something of a streetwear accessory with the least likely outdoors people getting in on the trend of extreme comfort.

13. New Balance 992

New Balance is known for its supreme comfort and there’s maybe no better sneaker to experience the brand’s next level support with the 992, a sneaker with twice the amount of midsoles on most sneakers. The brand doubles down on its midsole expertise by placing an ABZORB midsole with an ENCAP midsole right on top of each other. The sneaker is essentially a New Balance midsole sandwich with comfort in the middle.

14. Li-Ning Arc Ace

Li-Ning is probably best known for its relationship with former NBA star Dwayne Wade. The Chinese athletic brand has been providing Wade with sneakers for the court but at a recent fashion show in 2019, the brand introduced the world to the next iteration of Li-Ning sneakers. Now in the post-Wade world, the brand is changing its image with a slew of silhouettes that rival the competition and catch the eye of anyone who sees them. The construction features a funky double helix-like lattice on the midsole with a variety of TPU and nylon making up the rest of the construction. The sneaker pays homage to early tennis silhouettes and ushers in a new wave of innovation and conceptual design in footwear.

New Balance

When it comes to comfort, there’s something about a running sneaker designed to complete a marathon that gives you an assurance it’s going to be a comfortable sneaker. The sneaker comes packed with NB’s foam material in the midsole with assurances of comfort like an ortholite cushion insert for extra support.

17. Asics Gel-Nimbus 22

The Asics Gel-Nimbus 22 is one of the brand’s best runners and for good reason. Not only does it include the cloud-like softness of Gel tech, but the sneaker doubles down on support with Flytefoam, a lightweight material that provides expert cushioning.

18. Nike Daybreak

The Nike Daybreak is a simple, retro runner from the Swoosh’s early days that has made a resurgence. The sneaker features a simple, yet comfortable foam midsole. The real comfort, however, is the waffle print outsole, which helps to distribute weight and pressure in turn helping you be more comfortable. The new iteration of the sneaker features the classic suede and nylon hit the sneaker has always featured but with a translucent upper dyed in the teal tint from which the sneaker’s colorway gets its name.

19. Mizuno Wave Sky Waveknit 3

The Mizuno Wave Sky Waveknit 3 is not only a mouthful to say but it isn’t particularly the most attractive sneaker to look at it, however, it does know a thing or two about comfort. The unassuming sneaker is packed to the brim with XPOP PU foam and Mizuno Foam Wave which is supposed to deliver a top-notch comfort, perfect for any activity.

Review: “Neutral trainer with amazing comfort, cushion, & responsiveness. Arguably the most under-rated plush trainer on the market. Outstanding shoe” - Kathy Connor on

20. Brooks Ghost 12

Brooks has a lot of models with different specialties for runners but the Ghost 12 seems to be one of their more comfortable sneakers on the market currently. The system is two-pronged, each with Brooks’ serious running tech; DNA LOFT softness and BioMoGo DNA responsiveness bring the Ghost 12 to a level of comfort that’s challenging to match.

Review: “Excellent design/comfort and a perfect fit. I've owned the ghost 10/11 previously and these are at least equal if not more comfortable.” - Paul on
