Ranking the 2023-2024 NBA City Edition Jerseys From 30 to 1

We'll kick it off with OKC's City Edition, which serves as a local centerpiece of creative expression. Custom abstract patterns are at the forefront of the jersey, which blends together past elements of the Thunder's logos and wordmarks. While maybe not the most bold Thunder jersey ever, it gets the job done far as capturing the team colors and personality.

Taking inspiration from the colors, texture and beauty and Minneapolis waters, the City Edition Minnesota jerseys feature a custom pattern that's handmade in Bloomington, MN, and designed to look like an abstract interpretation of water. While the design is sleek and simple, it doesn't vary too much from the their standard jerseys which is why we have it lower on the list.

Paying tribute to the city's Mexican culture and the team’s Chicano fanbase, the “El Valle” uniform celebrates low rider culture and the art of rolling bajoito y suavecito. Again, a nice jersey, but still looks a lot like their usual threads. We do like the custom pinstripe though! It's a unique feature.

While at first glance the 23-24 City Edition Jersey looks similar to Portland's alternate jersey's, if you look closely, you'll see the plaid design on the "rip city" font which differentiates it from others. The font color is to pay tribute to their late head coach Jack Ramsay, who led the Blazers to their sole NBA Championship in 1977 while wearing a wild assortment of plaid suits. A nice message with a nice theme.

Some people may not like retro fonts and designs—we think it's pretty neat. The San Antonio Spurs uniform throws it back to 1968 during the World’s Fair — Hemisfair — for a celebration of global connection. For those unaware of the connection, is event is what helped provide the infrastructure that supported the Spurs’ move to San Antonio in 1973, which changed the San Antonio Spurs as we know it. The Spurs are a team that has always kept it simple, so this fits them.

Designed to look like a suit of armor as the team hits the hardwood to battle the world’s best basketball players for the win, the Orlando Magic 23-24 City Edition Jersey also features a subtle chain link pattern throughout and incorporates silver and metallic hints throughout. It still kind of looks like a slightly darker version of their current jerseys, which it isn't higher on our list, but still a nice subtle look.

We're giving this year's Philly City Edition a 7/10 for creativity. Why? That's because the uniform is inspired by the historic Reading Terminal Market in the heart of Center City, with the “City of Brotherly Love” carrying over as a wordmark from last season’s uniform, but instead reinterpreted as the Market iconic neon sign. The two arrows running down on the right side of the jersey represents the arrows that directed people from the train station to the bustling market below. Cool little piece of history—especially if you're a long-term Philly resident.

These kind of remind us of the Miami Heat jerseys circa 2006, but with a slightly more modern update. The design of the 23-24 City Edition jerseys is quite simple— the team’s mantra, “Heat Culture" is proudly displayed on the chest front and center. Not too much, but not too little either.

What fuels the inspiration behind the Golden State Warrior's City Edition jerseys? Why, the city of San Francisco and their iconic cable cars that is. The San Francisco wordmark climbs uphill, just like the cable cars that connect the people to their city. Not bad. 7/10 (holds up sign like they do in the dunk contest).

There's something very Disney Haunted Mansion about this jersey, which is why we like it. The Pelican's City Edition jerseys capture the one-of-one spirit of the city through the design’s deep purple and green accent colors, which is a reflection of the NOLA nightlife.

Retro yet modern. The Los Angeles Clippers uniform was designed in collaboration with LA-based artist Jonas Wood, who improvised on Clippers uniforms from the ‘80s. A different look than what we're used too from the Clips.

Inspired by Cleveland's performing arts and theaters, all of the colors and patterns on this jersey reflect the interior of a theatre. Appropriate considering Cleveland has the country’s largest performing arts center outside of New York. Interesting. 7.5/10.

The Hawks City Edition celebrates the power of achieving success together, designed around the mantra “Lift as we fly,” which is found on the jock tag. A unique color scheme than what we're used to seeing from the Hawks design wise, so we'll give this a 7.5/10.

If at first glance you thought the 23-24 Mavericks City Edition Jersey was old school inspired, you are indeed correct. The uniform is inspired by Grammy Award-winning artist and North Texas native Leon Bridges and his desire to honor the rich American Rhythm and Blues history found within the city. Jazzy and snazzy. We like it.

No you aren't seeing double—this actually the design of the New York Knicks' City Edition threads this year. The uniform was created as part of a collaboration between Nike and lifestyle brand KITH to celebrate the late ‘90s and early 2000s eras of the team. The good ole Stephon Marbury days!

We're diggin this retro Utah Jazz uniform, which introduces a new mountain design, representing the mountain range along the Wasatch front by incorporating a purple to white gradient. We're giving this a 7.5.

The Wizards are taking it back to the 1700s with their City Edition unis this season. You see, in the 1700s, 40 boundary stones were laid out in a 10-mile radius to create the original outline of Washington, D.C., which wound up becoming some of the oldest federal monuments on record. The area created by the stones is incorporated into the uniform’s blocked graphic on the design. Intriguing history. 7.8/10.

The Milwaukee Bucks uniform is designed around the concept of bringing people together be it Lake Michigan or in the Deer District, home to the team’s home arena, Fiserv Forum. This jersey is simple, but still attractive. We'll give it an 8/10.

It's giving "Bad Boys Era" Pistons with Isaiah Thomas and them. The Piston's 23-24 City Edition uniform draws from the team’s championship history, which is inspired by the memorable fan gear from that time period. Very vintage. We like.

Next up is the Pistons' arch nemesis from the late 1980s/early 1990s—the Chicago Bulls, whose City Edition threads are also early 90s inspired. The Chicago Bulls uniform takes its fans back to the “Madhouse on Madison,” the old Chicago home stadium in the early ’90s known for its steep seating and rollicking crowds. Again, we like the old school look and feel. 8/10.

The Denver Nuggets uniform celebrates the city’s mile-high status with topographical lines that run across the chest and along the side panels, highlighting Denver’s mountainous landscape. There's something very different looking about this jersey—kind of reminds us of the N64. 8/10.

The Los Angeles Lakers uniform is inspired by the franchise's perseverance through change. Boosting a triangle wordmark that's a throwback to the early basketball days in L.A. after the franchise moved from Minneapolis in the ’60s, this is probably one of the most unique jerseys in Lakers history.

The Toronto Raptors uniform takes the gold usually found on the details of City Edition uniforms and applies it throughout the whole uniform as the body color. The result is a smooth gold that's rich in color and texture. 8.5/10.

1960s NBA vibes. The Sacramento Kings uniform honors the franchise’s 100th anniversary by reimagining one of their most legendary uniform—the 1968 Cincinnati Royals Road uniform. Featuring a vertical Kings wordmark on top of a royal blue hue, while blending the historical Royals/Kings colors with a touch of contemporary gray, this jersey is pretty darn cool.

The 23-24 Indiana Pacers City Edition Jersey is inspired by the murals and bright neon signs that adorn the buildings of Indianapolis. The sides of the jersey feature paint splatters that represent the street art unique to different neighborhoods in the city. We like. 8.5/10.

Honoring two of the franchise’s greatest players, Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler, the 23-24 Houston Rockets City Edition uniform is a fusion of classic elements from the mid-’90s and modern detailing. It's giving NBA on NBC.

This year's City Edition for the Charlotte Hornets keeps it close to the standard edition as well, but there's just something about that emerald green, blue, and gold mixture that's so captivating. The uniform celebrates both the team’s home arena and the Charlotte Mint, both of which serve the city as a hub for community. 8.5/10.

Does the overall design of this jersey look familiar? The Brooklyn Nets uniform was designed in collaboration with Brooklyn-based artist and longtime fan KAWS, bringing together core elements of the team’s brand with some of the artist’s most notable works. Very cool. 9/10.
