Don’t look now, but the MLB All-Star Game is next week. So what are we going to do? In the words of Ludacris, “Act a Fool.” And we’re gonna do it in style. Nike style. Nike is taking action to create the future of diamond sports in LA and inspiring the next generation ahead of the 2022 MLB All-Star Game.

So what does that entail exactly? During MLB All-Star week, Nike is partnering with its deep roster of league, retail and community partners to make diamond sports more equitable, accessible, and fun, specifically for Black and Latina girls and all youth in LA.

Nike will also provide opportunities across softball and baseball at all skill levels by offering Nike Diamond Community Camps, Retail Experiences and Coaching Clinics across the city, as well as through ongoing investments in the Jackie Robinson Foundation and Play Equity Fund.

Nike will also be unveiling the 2022 MLB All-Star Game Jerseys and Lunar Cortez BSBL, which both pay homage to the city of Angels, and celebrating the legacy of Dodger great and LA native Jackie Robinson through continued support of the Jackie Robinson Foundation and the official release of the Nike Dunk Low (Jackie Robinson). The All-Star jerseys feature a dark grey base that represents the hard work and dedication that all stars apply to their craft, along with the gold details mimicking trophies that signify greatness in both fields.

The overall goal of the Diamond Sports Program is to increase softball participation as it is down more than 15% due to pandemic-related restrictions, lack of entry-level coaches and referee shortages. With that said, Nike is helping to remove cultural, social and economic barriers to sport, so every kid gets an opportunity to benefit from play and sport.

And with the Nike Dunk Low (Jackie Robinson), which releases July 19th, the sneaker pays tribute to Robinson’s barrier-breaking career, as the colors of the design are inspired by an aged version of his original uniform.
