Expert Advice for Cleaning Dirty Leather Sneakers

We tapped sneaker-cleaning expert Jason Angsuvarn—founder of the footwear world’s favorite product line, Jason Markk—and got him to spill the details. Below, he explains how to keep your expensive leather sneakers fresh.

• Jason Markk Premium Shoe Cleaner
• Standard Brush
• Premium Microfiber Towels

1. Use the brush to brush away any dirt and debris from the bottom of the sole up to the upper laces and tongue.
2. Use the brush to clean the uppers. Most standard leather is durable and can be cleaned with the standard brush, but if the leather is premium and delicate, use the premium brush to prevent damage.
3. Apply a generous amount of cleaning solution to the brush and then dip it into a glass of water. Shake off the excess liquid and begin brushing in an upward motion.
4. Wipe down with the microfiber towel.

• For untreated leather (like you’ll find on the Air Jordan 1 Shattered Backboard), do not wet the leather directly. Dampen a microfiber towel and wipe down the leather.
• If you’re unsure of the type of leather, start with the premium brush to be gentler.
