Fear of God’s Jerry Lorenzo Teams Up with Converse

A look at the The Fear of God ESSENTIALS x Converse Chuck 70

Jerry Lorenzo, the founder of the label Fear of God, is closing out 2018 with a bang. He has been putting in the extra hours before the year's end to launch an all-out assault on the streetwear and sneaker scene. Though many sneakerheads are waiting with bated breath for a shot at picking up his Nike collaboration (Nike Air Fear of God 1) due out this weekend, many brand loyalists have already gained a piece of his ESSENTIALS collection that dropped exclusively at PacSun. A part of that collection was the heavily teased and sought after Fear of God ESSENTIALS x Converse Chuck 70.

This classic silhouette has a tonal vintage look that invokes the military-inspired approach and utilitarian take on the Chuck 70. “Converse shoes are a time-tested classic. They were one of the first shoes ever worn on the (basketball) court,” Lorenzo said in a press release.

"I wanted to pay tribute to the nostalgia of the brand by highlighting the craftsmanship of the classic design. How Chuck Taylors made their way off the court and into the streets speaks volumes about the versatility of the brand. Now, with Converse x Essentials, we’re taking it from the streets and into the realm of streetwear, breathing new life into a design that will honor the legacy of Converse.”

The Fear of God ESSENTIALS x Converse Chuck 70 was released exclusively at PacSun yesterday, December 12, for $110, but are already sold out online. Rumor has it, however, that there will be a wider global release later this month. Knowing Lorenzo's work ethic and presence in the streetwear landscape, this is just the first of many collaborations with Converse we can expect.
