5 Weekend Sneakers To Watch Out For

GOAT

Well, it’s looking like we have another quiet weekend of releases on our hands, but like last week, I’m okay with it because we’ll have some commotion on Saturday with the new Jordan 5s. It’s been a while since we’ve had a clear ‘theme’ associated with specific drops, and in my opinion, this week’s sneakers have a retro 90s vibe to them—which is always a winner in my book. There isn’t too much to talk about this go-round, so I’ll spare you guys the longer intro and just jump straight into what should be on our radar as we kick back and enjoy the springtime vibes.

1. Nike 7 Lebron ‘Dodgers’

Release Date: 4/9

You had to know something like this was coming from Lebron as baseball season is officially back in action as of last week. Dressed in a ‘Dodgers’ theme, these 7s are decked out in a red, white, and blue colorway, and come with patent leather overlays. The translucent midsole is by far my favorite feature on the ‘Dodgers’ because it reminds me of those nighttime baseball games when they have the stadium lights on. Bron caused mass hysteria when he wore these back in September, and it’s always cool to play the guessing game to see if athletes are giving us sneak peeks of future drops when they step out in certain shoes.

Release Date: 4/9

I must admit that I’m not the biggest fan of ‘soda-themed’ sneakers. It can be a hit or miss, but I do like these. While streetwear has never gone out of fashion, it does seem like 90s streetwear is making a comeback. I don’t have a ton of memories from the 90s as I didn't come around until the middle of the decade, but for some reason, I do remember the classic Coca-Cola commercials. These remind me of those commercials in terms of their style and design. I’m not quite sure if these can be put in the everyday wear category, but I think they could be a solid addition to just have in your collection.

3. Jordan 5 ‘Raging Bull’

Release Date: 4/10

I’m stating the obvious, but these are going to cause a ruckus on Saturday morning. I’m personally not participating in this drop, but it’s always so much fun to see who is able to get Ws and who immediately runs to Twitter for their weekly (and sometimes daily) SNKRS rant. The ‘Raging Bulls’ are your typical retro AJ5s (they were first released in 2009), and it is always dope to see a vintage shoe make its way back into the current sneaker scene.

I do have a question for those sneakerheads who have been in the game for many years. Do you guys get the re-releases of these shoes if you already have the original, or do you pass? Does it depend on the condition of the original shoes? I’m genuinely curious, so please let me know!

4. Adidas D.O.N. Issue 2

Release Date: 4/9

I always enjoy Donovan Mitchell’s releases, and with the Utah Jazz having an excellent season, the championship theme is appropriate as Mitchell and the Jazz have their sights set on taking home the trophy as we inch closer to playoff time. Mitchell makes that clear with a large gold championship overlay stitched right in the middle of the shoe and a black and gold pattern that resembles the championship t-shirts awarded to the winner of the Larry O’Brien trophy. These are sick, and Donovan always brings the shoe heat, so I’m looking forward to these.

5. Maison Margiela x Reebok Tabi ‘Bianchetto’

Release Date: 4/9

This isn’t your standard Reebok shoes that you can cop for $120, the Maison Margiela component makes these bad boys $350, and I think they are worth every single penny if you choose to purchase them. First of all—the color. The color!! These shoes look like they belong in a painting, and split-toe is a rare feature on sneakers—you don’t see them very often. While the ‘Bianchettos’ have all of the components to qualify as a luxury sneaker, they still keep the street vibe typically associated with Reebok’s, and I love that.

That is going to wrap up this week, but y'all already know that I'll be back next week with another roundup. Be sure to keep up with me on Twitter!
