5 Sneakers To Watch Out For This Weekend

Here we go...

What’s going on everybody! Hope the week has been good. Hope the vibes have been good. It’s time for another roundup of weekend releases that you guys should be keeping an eye on, and just like last week we have announcements, announcements, and more announcements. To kick things off, this week Reebok dropped an Iconic Club C Collaboration honoring the life and creative legacy of Charles and Ray Eames with the inaugural drop of a landmark collaboration: The Reebok x Eames Club C ‘Monotone Pack.’ The collection is the first-ever footwear range officially developed in partnership with and authorized by the Eames Office—the firm that began with Charles and Ray’s marriage and move to California in 1941 and continues today run by the third generation of the Eames family, and the design showcases the longevity of the iconic Eames’ designs that have been embraced from generation to generation with its classic evergreen low-fi looks that remain timeless.

Reebok and Eames will also showcase Ray Eames’ immense talents as a visual artist with a second drop—the Ray Eames Signature Pack available later this season. The pack will feature a reproduction of her Composition painting of 1939 and the Eames Dot Pattern textile print of 1947, with more information to come. The collection is available starting October 15th via and, and will receive a wider global release on October 21 from select retailers.

Also in the world of Under Armour, Project Rock launched their newest collection entitled Outlaw Mana. The collection is inspired nspired by the work and is grounded in workwear styling, with graphic language that accesses a Western country feel, as “Outlaw Mana” and “Iron Paradise” are emblazoned on super-soft tees, hoodies, tanks, and more for men. Colorful hues, such as deep maroons and neutral greys, can be seen throughout the assortment, and is carried through to the women’s collection as well, which features a functional yet fashion-forward camo set, fleeces, and more.

In addition to the new apparel, the brand’s ultimate training shoe, the PR4, will be available in two new colorways for men, and a bold red colorway for women. We are going to highlight the sneakers below, so let’s get to it.

1. Project Rock 4

First of all let me start by saying that I own a pair of the PR4s and I am very much a fan. The shoes are stylish, comfortable, and can also be a good training shoe if that’s specifically what you are looking for. Under Armour and The Rock continue to elevate each design, and this latest iteration of the PR4s are a reflection of the autumnal themes that the Outlaw Mana represents. If you’ve missed out on previous drops, now is the time to snag a pair.

2. Air Jordan 1 Mid

Release Date: 10/06

I must admit that it’s been a minute since I’ve actually considered buying a pair of 1s. It’s not that the newest releases haven’t been catching my eye, it’s that I’m naturally someone who likes to stray from the pack sometimes. Sometimes it seems like everybody is wearing 1s, and I’ve been using the last several months to try sneakers that aren’t commanding as much attention. That said, these have me considering breaking my self-imposed 1s ban. This silhouette is smooth, sleek, and nice. The kind of shoe that you can wear anywhere. Count me in.

3. Air Jordan 5 WMNS Bluebird

Release Date: 10/07

Y’all know how I feel about the baby blue. I repeat. Y’all know how I feel about the baby blue. This is a stunning sneaker. I don’t know how else to put it. The way the silver contrasts against the blue is just…*chefs kiss.” I already know these are going to be hard to get a W on, so I’m not going to keep my hopes too high. These are definitely worth trying though.

Nike you have truly outdone yourself. Do y’all see this shoe? Do you see the color mixtures and the tones. Wow. The Nike branding is in the form of an HTML code, and I guess that makes sense since the shoe has a very futuristic computer themed look. The streets are saying that Y2K fashion is on its way back, and this is right in line with the 99s and early 2000s.

5. adidas Special Edition Cleat

I wanted to use this last entry to showcase a very special shoe with an equally special meaning. Veteran adidas designers Harold Arandia Jr and Julio Aleman have created a special edition baseball cleat that they designed together which is inspired by their shared hispanic heritage and love for baseball. Paying respect to the heritage of Latin Americans both on and off the field, the ambition of Arandia Jr and Aleman was to capture the diversity of Latin American & Hispanic culture in a cleat featuring a custom tapestry background and handpainted flowers that represent Latin American countries.

Aleman (who is adidas' Apparel Technical Designer) had this to say about the release:

“Inspiration for this cleat really comes from wanting to honor the rich diversity of Latinx people. We felt that the national flowers representing different countries allowed us to speak to the diverse cultures within Latin America, while also unifying those different cultures behind an idea of beauty, resilience, and a determination to thrive. The images of the flowers themselves were hand painted to add to a sense of energy, movement and life that our people have always carried on through generations and family traditions.”

This is a truly a beautiful shoe that celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month in an amazing way.
