11 Designer Pieces from Target’s 20th-Anniversary Collection You Need Under $50

Since 1999, Target has offered 150 designer collaborations. Next week, they’re reviving 20.

Without a doubt, Target—the superstore represented by an apple-red bull’s-eye—revolutionized diffusion lines for high-end designers, presenting collections from fashion greats such as Anna Sui, Proenza Schouler and Missoni over the past 20 years.

Allowing everyday Americans to own, say, a licensed Missoni signature print at an affordable price point, Target’s collaborations were monumental for so many—namely, me. I grew up on a small island off the coast of South Carolina, thumbing through the pages of fashion magazines (like so many do) to feel close to lauded professionals. Owning a piece of that editorial puzzle felt utterly impossible. That is until a Target opened 30 minutes over the bridge from my hometown. Suddenly, I could wear 3.1 Phillip Lim or a swingy Jason Wu dress. Zac Posen’s elegance was a $60 purchase away, no longer confined to the pages of Vogue.

I am so excited that Target’s 20th-anniversary collection, “20 Years of Design for All,” drops on September 14. With 20 iconic design partners selected from the past 20 years, you can once again shop historic fashion moments at accessible price points. Mark Tritton, Target’s chief merchandising officer said, “It was a major turning point. You could come to us for the everyday things you loved, but also these beautiful, meaningful moments,” according to Vogue. My only complaint is that, out of the 150 collaborations since 1999, more products aren’t being revived.

While the pickings for men are slimmer than for women, there are still some gems to be scooped up. Bookmark the items below ahead of the release, as these will sell out like hot cakes.

I figured, if it’s going to get designed, let’s do it well. So that’s what we did, and I’m happy about it.
