Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and currently residing in Los Angeles, California, is Kablito, a Latin artist and model gaining traction thanks to her unique sound, which she has been cultivating for years. Kablito, born Karen Freire, while originally from Ecuador, grew up in Minnesota and looked to combine elements of Latin music into new landscapes of pop and alternative.

Currently, she is boasting an impressive one-hundred thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, over fifteen thousand on Instagram, and eleven thousand followers on TikTok. As an emerging artist who grew up and faced adversity in a foreign place, Kablito has done an incredible job transmuting her emotions and stories into her music.

She notes in an interview with BeLatina that when she moved to Minnesota, she didn’t know much English and was one of a few people at her school that wasn’t caucasian. This would lead her to question her identity, asking whether or not she should even create Latin music. But, now, Kablito is consistently releasing songs with her loyal fanbase growing daily.

In 2019, Kablito sat down with Gary Vaynerchuk on his podcast, The GaryVee Audio Experience, to discuss her career and put herself in the position to gain leverage. The eight-minute conversation is very insightful for any aspiring musician. We are embedding the podcast below with the timestamp when they begin talking, so be sure to tune in below!

Kablito began to see a surge in her career with her 2020 release “Corazón Partido.” A song in which you can hear her singing over a filtered guitar melody with corresponding, filling ingredients that provide the listener with a melancholic listening experience. The song’s title translates to “broken heart,” where you can hear that emotion in her voice. Tune in below if you want to catch a vibe.

Following this release, she continued to develop momentum by releasing “Baby Bye Bye,” which currently possesses nearly three-hundred thousand streams on Spotify. The song’s bright and fun guitar melody captures the listener’s attention almost immediately. In the song, Kablito sings, “Que bueno que ya no te eh vuelto a ver. Que ya mi cuerpo no extraña tu piel.” To those unfamiliar with Spanish, these lyrics acknowledge that she is happy that she no longer misses an ex-lover and that they haven’t seen each other. This is the common theme that developed the song’s title in a fun manner. Be sure to give it a listen!

Additionally in 2020, Kablito appeared on Álvaro Díaz’s album Diaz Antes on the song “El Último Baile (Mia 5).” Since the release, the song has seen tremendous success, with the piece closing in on six million streams, helping Kablito stand out as a force to be reckoned with. Furthermore, in March 2020, they released their music video for the song, which is about to pass four million views, which has nothing but positive comments affirming both artists’ talents.

Kalbito’s latest song, “Única,” featuring Diego Raposo, was released at the end of July 2021. The song’s unique sound is attributed to its authentic Latin percussion, pacifying harmonies, and pop-inspired chord progressions. The track already has twenty-five thousand streams and will only increase in due time. So, be sure to check out the song below!
