Electronic Arts / Square Enix / ONE37pm

Every month, a vast assembly of video games releases across all of the consoles gamers hold so dearly. Starting with March, we’re going to make sure you know about the biggest game releases. And of course, we’ll also be sure to make you aware of all the upcoming ports and other assorted gaming launches that truly matter. Here’s a closer look at the biggest games that are set to drop in March.

‘Balan Wonderworld’ - March 26 (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC - Steam)

The older gaming heads reading this right now have something to look forward to in this bright and bubbly platformer. Balan Wonderworld is clearly inspired by Sega’s classic Nights into Dreams, which should come as no surprise since this new project is being directed by the legendary Yuji Naka. You can expect to be treated to a world full of wonder and splendor as you utilize a large variety of costumes to wield different abilities and rack up a ton of collectibles during your adventure. The Wonderworld you’ll explore offers a trippy mix of the real and the imaginary, so prepare yourself for an experience that looks like you’re running around in your own lucid dreams.

‘Monster Hunter Rise’ - March 26 (Nintendo Switch)

Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise truly hit its highest level of mainstream success with the release of Monster Hunter: World. Since the series is currently in the middle of its golden age, now seems like the perfect time to give Nintendo Switch owners their very own serving of giant monster battles. Capcom’s doing just that with Monster Hunter Rise, a new mainline installment that mixes in new and old series elements to a great degree. Your determined hunter can now be joined in battle by a new dog companion that can also be used to ride across each locale. Plus, the new Wirebug tool improves players’ vertical traversal and can even be used to land some brutal attacks. Monster Hunter Rise looks like the one game that will dominate Switch owners’ playtime this month.

‘It Takes Two’ - March 26 (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC - Steam)

Hazelight Studios captured a ton of interest and critical acclaim thanks to its co-op-focused title, A Way Out. The studio’s latest project sticks to multiplayer roots, but it falls more in line with the magical spectrum instead of sticking to real-world elements. The duo at the heart of this wild journey is Cody and May, a struggling couple that must overcome their differences to escape their current predicament. Via local or online co-op, both players must navigate a host of wild scenarios during their trek through a fantastical realm. That whole “getting transformed into dolls because of a magic spell” deal sucks for Cody and May, so it’s up to you and a willing friend to save them. It Takes Two definitely has the makings of another smash hit from Hazelight Studios.
