18 years. That’s how long rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor Lecrae has been in the game. Since the debut of his first studio album Real Talk in 2004, Lecrae has since gone on to release a whopping ten studio albums, three mixtapes, and more, with plenty of awards, accolades, and accomplishments along the way (we call that the Triple A). His most recent project, No Church In a While, was released last year, and like always, the artist is booked, busy, and in the studio working on new material.

The intimate concert took place at Believe Music Hall, part of Rock The Bells’ “Road Less Traveled” series in partnership with Toyota Tundra, which celebrates local Hip-Hop icons and the places that influenced their path to success.

We spoke to Lecrae ahead of the concert to talk more about his journey.

ONE37pm: First of all, congrats on the show. It’s gonna be a small/intimate show in ATL, which is always a vibe. What else can fans expect?

Lecrae: You already nailed it! The smaller show means you can interact, talk, have dialogue, and take requests. We’re also gonna have new music, so we got y’all!

ONE37pm: Your debut studio album came out in 2004, and now here you are experiencing even more success. What does that mean to you to have such longevity?

Lecrae: Man, it’s a beautiful thing! To come out as a kid and have everything come to fruition is not something that a lot of people can say. If you look at artists like Kanye and Drake, they are some of the few that have achieved longevity. I also have great fans!

ONE37pm: Your music is very healing and uplifting which is especially needed on the heels of what we have been through these last couple of years. How does it feel to be back to performing normally or at least semi-normally again?

Lecrae: It’s beautiful! Fans need the artists, and artists need the fans. It’s a blessing to bring healing through song, and tell stories that connect with people, and it’s great to be performing regularly again.

ONE37pm: How has it been working with the Rock The Bells crew on this series?

Lecrae: Shoutout to the Rock The Bells crew! I’ve been rocking with them for years, and again it’s another of those blessings to be able to work with them on this because they have always been for the culture.

ONE37pm: How has the city of Atlanta been for you in terms of your career?

Lecrae: Atlanta has always been a Godsend. ATL can elevate any artistic career, and it’s been able to help me grow. The environment is one where you can grow and thrive, and then you have the music, entertainment, food, etc., as well. I wouldn’t be where I am without Atlanta.
