Coming off the success of his project BACK IN ACTION, released in September, Midwxst dropped the deluxe version of the EP entitled BACK IN ACTION 2.0. This project contains an additional four songs, making this project feel more like a cohesive album than an extended EP. We previously covered Midwxst before the release of his EP back in September, so if you haven’t given a read yet, be sure to do so.

If you are not familiar with Midwxst, allow us to introduce you to the young, fresh artist. Real name Edgar Nathaniel Sarratt III; he is eighteen years old and a recent high school graduate. While most people take the college route following graduation, he decided to double down and follow his passions, and it is beginning to pay off for the emerging artist.

When Edgar initially released BACK IN ACTION, the eight-track project caused him to gain a new audience of listeners with the success of songs like “LA” with KA$HDAMI and “All Talk.” In “LA,” with KA$HDAMI, he has gained over one and a half million streams on Spotify and almost half a million views on his music video. This is attributed to his ability to deliver a unique flow over a slow, dreamy beat. Furthermore, KA$HDAMI’s flow is a perfect collaboration with Edgar’s style. Tune in to the music video below.

To kick off the deluxe version of the project, he continues with the hyper-trap sound he has been developing. On the track “Chowder,” he delivers what appears to be a recognition of where he is in his career and where he is going. Towards the end of the song, he drops a confident bar in, “Hearin’ my songs, and I know you ain’t skip it. They want a song, they say drop a lil’ snippet.” Be sure to give it a listen!

Following that is “Off The Wall,” a song that carries the message of imitators copying his sound and his high demand as an emerging artist. This similar theme is also on the track “Transformer,” with Onlybino! and Xhuloo. The song is the longest of the project, with a runtime of nearly four and half minutes. This is due to Edgar trying to deliver his concise message, fit in two features, and accommodate the beat switch-up.

The last song on the deluxe project is with DC The Don on “No Smoke.” Much like Edgar, DC is another buzzing artist who’s been gaining a lot of traction on social media, making this collaboration ideal for both artists. It’s an easy listen, in which his vocals take the forefront and deliver power to the song. Be sure to give it a listen!

To conclude, Midwxst does a terrific job adding an extra element with these four songs to make the deluxe version of BACK IN ACTION a homogeneous piece of work. Following the release of the initial EP, he went on tour and continued to work on his craft and develop his fanbase, which is beginning to pay off. If you’re not familiar with the artist, be sure to tune in. While he is only eighteen years old, he offers a wide range of versatility that will only adapt with time.
