Maharishi x Reebok Unveil Classic Leather Legacy AZ

In recent years, Reebok has arguably been the cream of the crop giants when it comes to putting out interesting and thoughtful collaborations. The brand just has so many classic silhouettes to choose from, allowing designers and artists to put their own spin on a model that's been beloved for years. Today, Reebok announced their collab with London-based streetwear label Maharishi. The two designers link up for the Reebok Maharishi CL Legacy AZ, available June 10th.

Maharishi is a brand that marries utilitarian garments with environmentally conscious production. "Founded in 1994 by Hardy Blechman, Maharishi explores the dualistic nature of the universe – expressed through blending Eastern and Western silhouettes and graphic influences, taking a pacifist approach to military-grade utilitarian design, representing camouflage as a symbol of nature and art, and respecting nature whilst utilising technology," the brand's site reads.

Their iteration of the Legacy AZ is an interpretation of the Classic Leather running shoe (one of Reebok's most iconic models), inspired by the Reebok's archival Aztec II.

“The Classic Leather Legacy AZ looks futurist and modern whilst retaining what makes it an iconic shoe,” commented Maharishi. “A big part of our design ethos is exploring duality, so this shoe - being a design classic infused with ultra-modern sensibility - fits well.”

Like a lot of Maharishi's goods, the sneaker draws inspiration from military flight suits and uniforms; the shoes are comprised of a nylon construction, contrasting black ripstop panels (a reference to the patch insignia used on traditional camo uniforms), and 3M reflective highlights. In typical fashion for the label, they utilize references to militaristic iconography; rather than creating a product focused on the wartime benefits of these features, the pieces reveal the utilitarian usage of this tech.

The Maharshi x Reebok Classic Leather Legacy AZ is available exclusively from MaharishiStore.com beginning June 10, and then will launch globally June 17 via Reebok.com and select retailers.
