Converse

As a sneaker company Converse has held many roles. First, the king of the court, the ultimate go-to hardwood sneaker, evoking images of early hoops greatness like Chuck Taylor and Larry Bird. The brand’s also dipped its toe into the world of streetwear, seeking a new life in the world of skating, and now some of the best Converse shoes for men include high profile collabs with creative fashion houses like A-Cold-Wall and Brain Dead.

Although Converse has taken a hard lifestyle slant for most of its product, it never lost its soul. The brand was acquired by Nike in 2003, allowing them to access a whole new echelon of opportunity. The partnership has been beneficial, giving Converse the inside edge of Nike materials and groundbreaking technology. Early Nike/Converse basketball sponsorships saw Converse athletes dressing in Cons for the tunnel runway and getting to play in Nike Bball silhouettes.

There’s a lot going on over at Converse and plenty to be paying attention to. The brand has etched its mark in history and has successfully inserted itself into the contemporary fashion, culture, and lifestyle markets. Their extensive catalog includes quality staple offerings to some highly coveted heat, so we took a look at everything the All-Star brand has to offer and came out the other side with the 17 best Converse shoes for men right now.

  • Year First Released: 2013
  • Our Favorite Colorway: Chuck 70 Plus, $100
  • Shoe Type: Lifestyle

Around 2013 or so, Converse began playing around with the Chuck Taylor All Star '70 model, which was crafted to look like the build similar to the ones used by basketball players in the 1960s and 70s. The Chuck 70 Plus was a result of that, which is a chunkier model of the All Star 70. We wouldn't recommend hooping in them due to their platform nature, but they make for a great lifestyle shoe.
