The 15 Most Memorable Viral Fashion Moments of 2022, Ranked

Pink is definitely going to be the color of 2023 with Margot Robbie’s upcoming Barbie film, which is slated to release summer 2022. Getting ahead of the game, Valentino’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccoli designed an “all pink everything” exclusive collection for his FW 2022 show. It also didn’t hurt that they had the likes of Zendaya as an ambassador for the collection as well. 

This won’t be the only Kim Kardashian entry on this list as some of the biggest fashion viral fashion moments of the year came from the campaigns for her SKIMS line which we’ll get into shortly. For this year’s Met Gala, Kardashian wore Marilyn Monroe’s legendary dress from 1962, which definitely got the conversation going. The dress was talked about in the days after the event, making it a candidate for the most viral fashion moment of the year.

We definitely didn’t have Snoop Dogg and Skims teaming up on our 2022 calendar, but it was a collaboration that we didn’t know we needed. Snoop, his wife, children, and grandchildren were the stars of SKIMS Holiday 2022 campaign, in which the iconic rapper and his three generations of family showcased the SKIMS Signature Cozy Collection.

We’ve also got shoutout Anne Hathaway who had a career defining year in fashion. While Anne has always been very fashionable and elegant, there was something about her style this year that was different, with the actress taking risks that we haven’t seen from her before while also very much becoming a trendsetter. Perhaps it’s the sexy 40s kicking in as Hathaway recently celebrated her 40th birthday in November. We’re certainly looking forward to seeing what Hathaway brings to the table in 2023.

Yes, Wednesday Addams was very much a viral fashion trend in 2022 thanks to both the success of the respective Netflix series, and TikTok who turned her character into a trend. There’s literally hundreds of thousands of people who have recreated her look, and when you have that kind of impact, you are definitely influential.

Of course we had to include Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons’ triangle tank top which unexpectedly but somehow expectedly caused a stir. Maybe it was the retro 1990s vibe? Maybe it was the simplicity of it being a simple white tank top with a small black triangle right in the center? We may never know exactly why this blew up the way it did, but we are grateful that these two groundbreaking designers created this timeless piece.

With us being a heavy advocate of NBA Fashion, we had to make sure we got in a couple of viral moments from the sports world. We never did find out who designed this two-piece white suit that LeBron stepped out in for NBA opening night, but this suit did cause a commotion on NBA Twitter and Instagram. Oh, and let's not forget his tribute to Takeoff as well.

We’ve also got to show some love to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who was just named GQ’s Most Stylish Man of the Year, beating out some heavyweight contenders who have been in the fashion space for much longer than he has. A simple look at his Instagram will tell you everything you need to know about the year he has had in fashion, which has been quite sick to watch.

We also didn’t have a campaign with SKIMS and the legendary Victoria’s Secret Models on our 2022 calendar. The shoot brought together Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, Alessandra Ambrossio, and Candice Swanepoel all together for their first ever joint campaign. 

You can always count on the Euphoria crew to bring forth the viral moments, and Maddy Perez certainly turned heads and created massive conversation with her black cutout dress this summer, which was just in time for LBD season. 

The highly anticipated Nike x Jacquemus 15-piece collection made its debut in early July causing instant ruckus. The two brands closed the year 2022 strong with the Jacquemus x Nike Air Humara LX in “Pink Flash,” which dropped on December 9th. 2023 should be a fun one for these two both individually and collaboratively.

Worn by Margot Robbie and Kate Moss on the runway, Matthieu Blazy created a pair of jeans known as the “Optical Illusion.” They look ordinary, but in reality they are one of the most luxurious things on the planet. Simple yet extravagant.
