If you’ve opened your TikTok at any point during these past several days, then you have undoubtedly seen the latest dance trend taking over the platform, which is a mashup between Coi Leray’s “Players,” and Busta Rhymes iconic 1997 hit “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See.” The mashup was created by NYC producer DJ Saige and quickly blew up upon Coi Leray posting a video of herself dancing to the mix.

Since then, the mashup has become one of the most popular sounds on TikTok and features a dance routine that you can do along with. The Players x Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See mix has also crossed over onto Instagram with the likes of Shaq even getting involved in the trend, so we thought it would be a good time to give you the backstory of both songs.

Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See

“Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See” was recorded by Busta Rhymes in 1997, and released in August of that same year as the lead single from his sophomore album When Disaster Strikes. The single was a huge hit, reaching Number Two on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs Chart. The song also achieved success outside of the United States where it reached the Top 20 on the UK Singles Chart.

The music video for the track was directed by Hype Williams, and was inspired by Eddie Murphy’s 1988 Film Coming to America. Legend has it that the movie was playing on television while Busta Rhymes and the crew were working on the record, which in turn inspired the idea for the video. Beautiful African themes are present throughout the entire video, along with tribal African makeup, hairstyles, and costuming. The video was a massive success, being played in heavy rotation on both BET and MTV.

Players

“Players” is a new release from Coi Leray that dropped roughly about three weeks ago. The song has achieved massive notoriety thanks to its catchiness and mashups like the one DJ Saige created. While no video is available at the moment, the audio experience on YouTube is currently sitting at 867K users, along with a DJ Smallz 732 Jersey Club Remix which was released about a week ago, and currently has 232K views.

TikTok Trend

As we mentioned earlier, the Players x Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See Mashup has become a dance trend. Here are a few of our favorites.

Congratulations to DJ Saige for making a really sick mix. Congratulations to Coi Leray on the success of her new single, and congratulations to Busta Rhymes for creating a song that is still impactful 25 years after being released.
