In the original Pink Panther series that spanned from 1964 to 1993, there were a total of nine films released. Over a decade later the franchise created a reboot series, releasing two movies in 2006 and 2009 respectively.

As we mentioned earlier, The Pink Panther series began all the way back in 1963, with the release of its first film entitled The Pink Panther. The actor most associated with the role of Inspector Jacques Clouseau was and still is Peter Sellers, an incredible versatile actor in the 1950s and 60s who's also known for his roles in other popular movies from the time period such as Casino Royale, Dr. Strangelove, and Lolita.

Sellers would appear in five Pink Panther movies from 1964 to 1978 (not counting the two tribute films full of montages from all his performances that aired in 1982 and 1983), and after one more film released in August 1993, the franchise (from a movie perspective) went dormant until the casting of Steve Martin as Clouseau in 2006. From there Martin would star in The Pink Panther (2006) and The Pink Panther 2 (2009), and other than a short lived attempt to reboot the animated series in 2010 and a television special the following year, the franchise as a whole has kind of been on pause over the past decade-and-a-half.

With so many reboots and prequels being developed nowadays, it's hard for us to believe that The Pink Panther franchise is totally finished. In the meantime, we'll enjoy what we have already. Check out the guide below.

So this is where The Pink Panther franchise leaves us for now. As we said earlier, there's no way that this series is totally done for with all of the reboots and prequels being developed. It's just a matter of timing, and the right actor who can accurately capture the spirit of Detective Jacques Clouseau.
