Sean Wotherspoon and Hot Wheels is weirdly a really incredible match. A lot of the sneaker designer's previous work has been punctuated by his use of vivid and varied color, so couple that kaleidoscopic style with the world of colorful race cars and you've got yourself a pretty epic collection. Yesterday, adidas Originals announced the collection with Hot Wheels, created with the help of sneaker design icon Sean Wotherspoon.

A lot of the merch from the collab (including the Adilette slides) is available now on CONFIRMED. You can sign up for the sneakers themselves, dubbed the Superturf Adventure, on the app now; they will release globally on August 25th.

The collection features both footwear and clothing; there's a pair of kicks (the Superturf Adventures), some slides, and a whole array of Hot Wheels / adidas branded pieces, from jackets to hats and more.

The standout from the collection is surely the Superturf Adventure, which is a perfect invocation of the growing influence of techwear and hiking culture on contemporary sneaker design. The sneaker features purple, pink and blues interlaced into a retro-inspired sillhouette. The design is pulled together by rope laces, giving it a true outdoorsy feel.

The most unique aspect of the kicks' design is the customizable rear, which allows for swapping a few choice velcro patches including iconography from both brands. The Superturf Adventure is a nice middle ground between the world of flashy, color-forward hyped sneakers and the more minimal lane of performance-focused technical kicks.

The rest of the collab features some Adilette slides, track jackets, tee shirts, shorts, a bucket hat and a tote bag. There are also the aforementioned velco patches, which you can affix onto your Superturf Adventures however fits your wardrobe best.

We caught up with Sean himself to hear a bit about how the collab came to fruition. "I grew up loving Hot Wheels. The first Hot Wheels I ever got were from my uncle. And they were his from the late 60s, early 70s," he tells ONE37pm, adding: "I grew up playing with them, and now I have a five year old and a 1.5 year old, and they love Hot Wheels. And so it’s cool, that same box of Hot Wheels from my uncle, literally my kids play with the same one. It’s just so insane, anything that lasts, what 50 years?"

Just the fact that the story can keep continuing is incredible. So to work with the brand that was the vehicle for that story is pretty sick.

The apparel, accessories and slides are available now on CONFIRMED and at Round Two. Sign-ups for the three-way Superturf Adventure are open now and they drop on adidas and at a selection of retailers globally on August 25.
