What are the best new LEGO sets that are about to hit the shelves?
January means it’s time for brand new LEGO sets to release, and 2023’s docket has some of the most diverse and exciting sets in recent memory. With over 130 new LEGO sets released this month, here are the best LEGO sets to keep an eye out for in January of 2023.
While the sets in this wave are considered on the pricey side, the accuracy to the film is unparalleled. If you loved Avatar: The Way of Water, these sets will blow you out of the water (sorry, I couldn’t help myself.)
Throwing back to the first LEGO Quinjet released in 2012, this updated model is as close to a perfect Marvel set as you can get. Updated and accurate minifigs paired with a beautifully-scaled model of the iconic Avengers vehicle make for an instant classic. I can’t believe this is only $100 for the value you get!
While LEGO fans are still clamoring for Lord of the Rings minifigure-scaled sets, these new Funko-esque BrickHeadz are a great reintroduction to the classic Tolkien characters that give hope for possible future sets down the line. My personal favorite is Frodo and Gollum, especially at the $14.99 price point.
LEGO Art has been crushing it over the past year, and 2023 shows no signs of slowing down. Recreating Hokusai’s The Great Wave with LEGO in a pseudo-mosaic style is something I didn’t know I wanted, but now my living room wall is calling for it. This is perfect to display at home or in the office, and it’s even built to be hung on a wall!
2022 saw the introduction of iconic movie cars into the LEGO Speed Champions line, and the new year carries the torch with this beautiful model that pays tribute to the late Paul Walker. The car itself is a great play and display piece, although some LEGO fans are a bit miffed at the price increase to $24.99 on this model. I’m not thrilled about the price hike, but the set itself delivers on all fronts and I cannot recommend it enough.
Every January 1st, LEGO releases a new installment into their Modular Buildings line, and this year brings us the Jazz Club. Complete with a beautifully designed interior, this modular brings in the warm vibes of smooth jazz and Italian aromas of the pizza shop nestled into the right side of the model. This one is a must-have for any collector that has space to welcome it into their collection!
2020 introduced us to the LEGO Star Wars 501st Clone Troopers set, which could very well be the best-selling LEGO Star Wars set of all-time. It’s no surprise that LEGO would follow up that set with an add-on to allow collectors to continue growing their 501st Legion, and the $19.99 501st Battle Pack will do just that. While I personally think this is a little overpriced at $20, we all know that every LEGO Star Wars fan is going to buy at least one of these…
I have a feeling this set will fly under the radar of many builders, but at $30, it’s impossible for me to not suggest this adorable birdhouse build. Complete with five brick-build birds, this doesn’t take up too much space and will have appeal for builders and collectors of all ages. Imagine getting two and building an even bigger birdhouse with more birds in it!
