What are type beats? For those immersed in the world of music production and beat-making, the term "type beat" might be a familiar one. But for those less familiar, it might be a bit confusing. So, exactly what are "type beats"? Simply put, a "type beat" is an instrumental track created by a producer that emulates the style of a specific artist or producer. These beats are often labeled with the artist or producer's name, followed by the term "type beat." For example, "Drake Type Beat" or "Metro Boomin Type Beat."
We decided to unveil our own series to see how artists feel about the beats named after them on YouTube. So far, we've talked to artists like Dc2Trill, Draft Day, Ka$hdami, Sugarhill Ddot, and Eem Triplin - the last of whom has built his career on a foundation of his type beats posted to YouTube.
