AEW Double or Nothing 2023: Matches and Predictions

Preview & Predictions: I must say - Matt Hardy and Ethan Page's beef ended up being one of the main reasons I kept up with episodes of AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation. Page's constant torture of Matt as he held his contract, Matt finding a way to finesse Page into thinking they were best buddies, and the "Firm Deletion" match ended up being way better than expected. Now Page is ready to exact his revenge alongside The Gunns on the trio of The Hardys and the silent killer himself Hook with this six-man tag. I'm fully expecting this storyline to continue with Matt getting his revenge on Page over the next couple of months, which is why I'm predicting a win for Hook, Matt Hardy, and Jeff Hardy.

Preview & Predictions: "The House Always Wins." FACTS! I've been a massive supporter of The House of Black for the longest time now and am simply overjoyed at the fact that they're running roughshod over the trios division as its champions. Judging by the previous weeks' Rampage episodes that have showcased quite the winning streak for The Acclaimed, it's pretty obvious that they're going to be competing for The House's World Trios Championship here. But it will all be for naught as Max Caster, Anthony Bowens, and "Daddy Ass" Billy Gunn gets put down by the dark stable consisting of Malakai Black, Brody King, and Buddy Matthews.

Preview & Predictions: Damn, are we still waiting on Kris Statlander to come back and beat Jade Cargill for the TBS Championship? Man at this point, I'm of the belief that the powers that be at AEW have to move on from that dream scenario to end Cargill's title reign. After the screwy finish of both Cargill and Taya Valkyrie's first match, I think we're set for a more definitive outcome here. Even though I'd love to see the TBS Championship change hands here, I'm predicting another PPV victory for Cargill that will further extend her reign of dominance until AEW All In at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Preview & Predictions: Wardlow's third reign of the TNT Championship is certainly off to a much better start than his last two reigns. With the great Arn Anderson by his side and another veteran in Christian Cage as his first feud, Wardlow is involved in a much more interesting feud to further solidify his high placing within this midcard division of AEW. To have this match contested under Ladder Match rules is a great way to test Wardlow and see if he can sink or swim with the stakes being as high as they are here. I'm sure this will be a great match thanks to Christian's notable experience with this match type and Wardlow's willingness to do some mind-blowing stuff on the PPV stage. Wardlow's definitely retaining here to make sure his third TNT Championship reign continues rolling on a strong note.

Preview & Predictions: The hard-hitting, drag-out, knockdown brawl these two ladies had back at Full Gear 2022 was not only one of the best matches of the show, but it was also one of the most memorable bouts of the year. So you already know I'm overjoyed that Jamie Hayter and Toni Storm are running it back here with their character alignments being switched around. Prepare yourselves for another banger here, ladies and gentlemen! I'm placing all my casino chips on a Hayer victory here, which will further anger Storm's stablemates in The Outcasts and eventually lead to the first-ever all-women's Blood and Guts match at a later date. My gut is telling me Hayter, Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida, Riho, and Willow Nightingale will lock horns with Storm, Saraya, Ruby Soho, Athena, and Tay Melo.

Match Participants: Orange Cassidy (c), The Butcher, The Blade, Bandido, Komander, Lee Moriarty, Big Bill, Ari Daivari, Tony Nese, Chuckie T, Trent, Kip Sabian, Rey Fenix, Penta El Zero Miedo, Swerve Strickland, Brian Cage, Ricky Starks, Jay White, Juice Robinson, Keith Lee, and Dustin Rhodes.

Preview & Predictions: You know what's wild about this match? There are some mini-feuds on display here that I figured would get match placements on this show (I'm alluding to Keith Lee vs. Swerve Strickland and Ricky Starks vs. Jay White, of course). All four of those individuals will be contained within this battle royal, which is a bit of a letdown. I get the feeling that the babyfaces in those two feuds will eliminate their current rival, which means Lee and Starks will stay in the match much longer and extend their current feuds. As for who I think will win, I'm going to go out on a limb here and pick Starks for the win! A Starks win that leads to his beef with White being contested for the AEW International Championship sounds like the most expected outcome here.

Preview & Predictions: Say what you want, but I absolutely love Jeff Jarrett in AEW! When "Double J" isn't hogging up the spotlight at the top of the card as he did in WCW and TNA, then he's way more tolerable and watchable. And now that he's been running around with Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh, Jarrett has gotten himself caught up in a pretty serious (and sometimes hilarious!) beef with FTR. I'm fully envisioning this match to be a whole lot better than most AEW fans expect it to be. The old-school sensibilities of both the teams competing here will definitely bring on those throwback NWA-style tag team match vibes. My AEW Double or Nothing 2023 predictions are pointing toward FTR emerging from this match with their AEW World Tag Team Championship belts still intact.

Preview & Predictions: Since returning, Adam Cole (BAY BAY!) has gotten right back into the swing of things by having a solid return match with Daniel Garcia and feuding with that man's stable leader in Chris Jericho. The intensity of this feud has been off the charts and has resulted in some verbal and physical assaults from both men It makes all the sense in the world for this clash to be free of any and all rules that apply to your average standard matchup. I'm guessing besides all the plunder that'll be used during this encounter, Jericho's JAS (Jericho Appreciation Society) allies will pop up to interfere. And to combat them, Cole's allies in Roderick Strong, a returning Kyle O'Reilly, and possibly some randoms that despise Jericho's group will show up as well. I'm confident that Cole is getting set up for bigger things in the coming months, which is why I'm predicting a major W for him here.

Preview & Predictions: Out of all the storylines that have been going down the past couple of months, the one going down between the Blackpool Combat Club and The Elite is hands down the best one. The heel turn of the BCC, the return of a very pissed-off Bryan Danielson, the Steel Cage match between Jon Moxley & Kenny Omega, and the shocking return of Adam Page that led to The Elite reuniting have all been unforgettable moments worth praising. All that beef has finally led to both stables deciding to bring their feud to a close with an Anarchy in the Arena brawl to end them all! The version of the match that happened at last year's Double or Nothing was awesome and this one will be just as good. I can't wait to see Danielson and Omega square off with each other while the crowd loses its shit at the sight of seeing them in the ring together again! Seeing as how the BCC has gotten most of the advantage lately, my AEW Double or Nothing 2023 predictions are pointing to a massive comeback victory for The Elite.

Preview & Predictions: And now we've arrived at the "Four Pillars" main event at this PPV that will be contested for the AEW World Championship. The young shining jewels of All Elite Wrestling, who are MJF, Darby Allen, Sammy Guevara, and "Jungly Boy" Jack Perry will all be going full-steam ahead to get their hands on AEW's top prize. This one will be a balls-to-the-wall matchup that will have the crowd going crazy for its near falls as it'll look like the defending champion MJF will be on the verge of defeat. Sammy and Darby will be the ones that eventually cancel each other out due to their daredevil mindset, while Jungle Boy will emerge as the last babyface standing against the almighty heel world champ. And once the dust clears, MJF will use that damned ring of his to knock Perry out and emerge with the AEW World Championship still within his grasp.
