Ajax lost seven key starters from last season, yet the club is thriving again in 2022 because of players like Brian Brobbey.

Whenever a squad loses its manager, top goal scorer, playmaker, and various key pieces it's typically not a recipe for success.

The Eredivisie champions are just built different though.

For years, Ajax has become a hub for youth talent, bringing big names into the sport that have gone on to many other massive European clubs.

Wesley Sneijder, Luis Suarez, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were just a few players that shined for Ajax back in the day.

More recently, Antony, Frenkie de Jong, and Mathijs de Ligt have been sold for big bucks and that money has been reinvested in the club.

This season, the Dutch side is off to a perfect start both in domestic and European competition, and Brobbey has been a huge figure in that equation. The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga but was never really afforded a chance in their attack.

Brobbey was brought back though and he's been rewarded early on by new manager Alfred Schreuder. The agile striker is one of four professional footballers in his family, but Brobbey is making the most headlines so far.

Samuel, 22, most recently played for Almere City. Derrick Luckassen, 25, is now on loan in Turkey, while Kevin Luckassen is 27 and also in Turkey playing for Kayserispor. He played a key role for the Netherlands at the 2018 and 2019 editions of the UEFA European U-17 Championships, which his side won.

Given Ajax's tremendous record of developing players, Brobbey looks to be in store to really break out in 2022 and beyond.

Either out wide or as a more central figure, the 20-year-old has great pace and he's quite physical.

Additionally, he's been clocked as one of the fastest players at Ajax and a former youth coach says he jumps higher than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Brobby offers Ajax a lot of flexibility when it comes to what they do attack wise and they'll surely be fun to watch all season.

The club's rich history of producing top talents continues this season and Brian Brobbey is surely a name that fans should remember.
