We're now on the cusp of entering the spring season which means March Madness, April showers (time to bust out those rain boots), May flowers, and… sneakers. Spring season is always a fun time in the sneakerhead universe, with pops of colors and previews of what’s to come in the summer. If you are a fan of basketball, many players (Kevin Durant and LeBron James to name a few) drop their latest signature shoes around the time of the playoffs (which start in the middle of April), with a sizable amount of new colorways hitting the market from some of your favs. Of course, we’ve been monitoring the latest spring sneaker trends and if you are anything like us, then you are probably wondering which sneakers you should invest in for the season. You called and we've answered. Here's a guide to the best spring sneakers for 2024.

From shoes like the Nike Air Max Pre-Day ($190+) to the adidas Ultra Boost Climacool ($94+), these are some great options to add to your spring capsule wardrobes.

What are some spring sneaker trends?

This year’s spring trends aren’t too much different than previous years in the sense that spring brings simplicity. You have hot days, cold days, and days in between, and sometimes it feels like it never stops raining. For that reason alone, you don’t really see a lot of people busting out the kicks (at least their newer ones) on a daily basis. In fact, there might even be more days where you’re wearing rain and winter boots as opposed to sneakers. We’re saying all this just to reiterate that neutral simplicity is the major theme every spring season. Also, retro streetwear is a major anticipated trend for the year 2024, so keep that in mind as you're shopping as well.

More specifically, we've continued to see the rise of gorpcore and techier sneakers (like Salomons) in the past few years, do we don't expect that to slow down. The explosion of Wales Bonner's collab with adidas has also continued to increase the hype around lowtop tennis shoes, which are also a great fit for the season and could very well be a spring sneaker trend this year. And of course, Nikes and Jordans are always a great bet.

Seven different colorways accompanied the Pre-Day collection when it was released in March 2022 to mark 2022's Air Max Day, so you shouldn’t have any problem finding one that fits your style (though you may have to look around a bit). The spring vibes are in full effect here with the cream, white, and navy blue upper. Not to mention, Air Maxes are quite comfortable to walk in.

Are these things...real? Apparently so according to Reebok. Some brands do the creepy crawly halloween-themed sneakers only during the month of October. Reebok, however, has been bringing the ghouls and goblins year-round these past couple of years, and that includes the shoes in their Ghostbuster collection, which are certainly eye-catching and in line with the movie that comes out later this year. These sneakers literally look like they can be found in an evil laboratory somewhere, and are sure to draw plenty of attention when worn.

You can never go wrong with the good ole 90s. We’ve been in a 1990s mood lately—maybe it's because of that retro streetwear trend we mentioned earlier, so if you are feeling similarly, then as always, the Instapump Fury is right up your alley. What's more, they are really throwing it back to the 1990s with their Preseason 94 shoes, which are a banger in our book. A true basketball shoe in every sense of the word, this is a good pickup for hoopers in need of a new gym sneaker.

9. Air Jordan 1 “Heritage”

  • Sizes: 3.5 - 12

Once you’re in the sneaker game for a long period of time, you can sort of begin to predict which shoes are classics and automatic classics. This is the latter. Why? Because every red, white, and black Jordan 1 is to some capacity. Heritage bears some resemblance to the red and white Jordan 1s of yesteryear, and the Bloodlines in my opinion. The Bloodlines have been notoriously hard to get, and there’s no need to revisit how hard its been to grab other legendary Jordan 1s with red and white in them, so alas this is another opportunity to get a similar shoe. At least we think it is.

  • Sizes: 7 - 12

Does it get anymore spring than an Easter-themed colorway? We'd venture to say it absolutely doesn't get any more spring than an Easter-themed colorway. As far as specs go, these have all of the standard features 5s are accompanied with such as the chunky model, the notable TPU overlays, and the logo, but the light purple color with teal accents on the outsole is what really gives these sneaker the Easter pop needed for spring. Jordan 5s also have good response technology and a padded midsole, so you're good in the comfort department as well.
