Who made the cut?

The category was “Gilded Glamour,” and the stars definitely came out and showed their Monday best at this year’s Met Gala. The #MetGala was red carpet was full of some of the brightest and most accomplished celebrity and fashion gurus, and like every year, they gave us something to talk about. So who wore what? Who was the best dressed? Who was the most talked about? Who followed the theme? Who didn’t? Who snuck into the bathroom to take the forbidden selfie?

While we don’t know the answer to the last question, we can give our opinions on some of the others. In our honest opinion, the very best looks were the ones that captured the “Gilded Glamour” theme perfectly, and to us, that represents the 1940s/1950s Old Hollywood vibe. Here are a few that did it best.

13. Glenn Close, Valentino

Glenn Close has captured the essence of Old Hollywood perfectly through the course of her career, and she showed why she is one of the best to do it tonight in a pink Valentino pant suit with a matching cape.

12. HoYeon Jung, Louis Vuitton

Okay so when it comes to 1940s/50s Hollywood, HoYeon Jung captured it perfectly, but added a modern risque vibe. The length and dress cutout would have definitely been gasp worthy in that era, but it looked so cute. Speaking of HoYeon Jung, are we getting a Squid Game season 2?

11. Jack Harlow, Givenchy

Y’all know we gotta show love to the fellas. Jack Harlow looked smooth and suave in Givenchy at this year’s Met, and you already know the ladies were swooning on social media. Jack does it again.

10. Lenny Kravitz, Designer Unknown

Lenny, my dude, don’t think this is quite Gilded Glamour, but it is epic rockstar, so we gotta include.

9. Billie Eilish, Gucci

When we’re talking about “Gilded Glamour,” Billie Eilish captured this to a T. From the sheer sleeves to the satin floor length corset dress, Eilish looked amazing in her Gucci getup.

8. Vanessa Hudgens, Moschino

Okay V, you just might have won this one. You’re already the Coachella Queen, now you’re trying to come for the Met as well? At some point you have to let up.

7. Venus Williams, Law Roach

Venus doesn’t come to the Met every year, but when she does…you better believe she serves. Get it? She serves. No? Okay.

6. Chloe Bailey, Area SS22

Chloe Bailey is very quickly becoming one of our red carpet favorites. She and her sister Halle have been killing it in the fashion game, and Bailey took to the Met for the second time in her career, this time in a shimmery gold Area SS22 dress. Chloe sis, you killed it.

5. Kaia Gerber, Alexander McQueen

Not only did Kaia Gerber perfectly capture the theme with her dress, she also nailed it with her hairstyle. The big fluffy curls were a huge part of the fashion game back in the Old Hollywood era, and Gerber looked like she would fit right in, rocking Alexander McQueen on the coveted Red Carpet.

4. Dove Cameron, Iris van Herpen

We are still working to track down exactly who Dove Cameron was wearing last night, but her dress looks like it belongs in both a fashion and art museum. A thing of beauty for sure.

Update: Dove was wearing an Iris Van Herpen piece alongside Brilliant Earth 18K White Gold Sincelo Lab Created Diamond Earrings. Dove was styled by the renowned Erin Walsh, marking the first time Dove and Brilliant Earth has been featured on the red carpet at the Met Gala. The understated yet glamorous drop earrings are topped with a cluster of sparkling lab-grown diamonds while lustrous ultra-thin strands of precious metal adorned with more diamonds sway gracefully beneath.

Dove certainly did look stunning!

3. Nicki Minaj, Riccardo Tisci

Nicki sis, who were you wearing? We still don’t know, but what we do know is that Queen Nicki was one of the most anticipated celebrities at this year’s Met, and she didn’t disappoint. At the time of this writing we still don’t know who she was wearing, but we promise you that we will find out and update this article when we do.

Update: The designer is Riccardo Tisci

2. Meg Thee Stallion, Moschino

Meg looked regal in this elaborate Moschino dress and swooped back bun. This look was sort of like a modern day Billie Holiday meets Josephine Baker outfit, and we loved it from top to bottom.

1. Laura Harrier, Victor Glemaud and H&M

Victor Glemaud and H&M are the masterminds behind this dazzling piece that Laura Harrier wore to last night’s Met. It’s giving us classic Audrey Hepburn.

That's all for now, but before we go, we wanted to let you know about a great Mother's Day gift you can grab before Sunday.
