Alright, so since we've covered some of the best Nike collaborations to drop in recent history, that means now we have to do adidas now right? There is often an argument in the world of sports apparel about which brand is bigger or has more influence. Whatever your stance might be, you have to admit that the adidas name holds a ton of weight as they have had the bragging right for partnerships with Damian Lillard, Beyoncé, and Pharrell to name a few, plus a heavily loaded roster of great athletes representing them. Similar to the Nike article, we’ll be looking at some of the best adidas collaborations out there, while also giving our favorite selections from each specific partnership. Sound good? Bet.
The 21 Best adidas Collaborations of All Time
Looking for a new pair of Adidas sneakers to try out? Here's a few
- Our Favorite Piece: Yeezy Boost 350 V2 "Mono Ice," $225
- Years: 2013 - 2022
This is an obvious one right? Whether you liked them or nor, Yeezys had a profound impact on the sneaker community for almost a decade (and you can argue that they still do). Now Ye wasn’t a total newbie to the sneaker collaboration game before going over to the three stripes, having previously worked with brands such as Nike and LVMH, so he was able to take things to the next level almost immediately upon signing his adidas deal. Yeezys weren't just sneakers, they were a part of the culture, and while it’s hard to say for sure what the best Yeezys of all time are, any variation of the 350s could have a solid case (we can’t count the ones he released with Nike even though those are technically Yeezys as well).
We'll go with the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 "Mono Ice," as those are one of our favorites, and seems to be a Yeezy sneaker that everyone can agree on.
- Our Favorite Piece: Pharrell Williams Hu NMD Animal Print Grey, $220
- Years: 2014 - Present
Since we’re on the topic of musicians we can jump right on over to Pharrell. Pharrell’s shoes are a reflection of who he has been as both an artist and producer—creative, innovative, and unique. Pharrell releases pretty frequently with Adidas as well, and has been with the brand since 2014.
For our Skateboard P's collab went with the Pharrell Williams Hu NMD Animal Print Grey, which features a deep new hue to stand out against colorful backdrops as one of our favorites that he's released so far with the brand. It seems to be genuinely loved by most fans of the collaboration.
BAPE x adidas Superstar 80s ‘ABC Camo’
- Our Favorite Piece: adidas Superstar BAPE ABC Camo Green, $165
- Years: 2003 - Present
At this point in the game, who isn't familiar with adidas x BAPE? The two have been working together for twenty years now, and they have gone on to become one of the most celebrated and greatest collaborations not just in adidas history, but in streetwear/sneaker history as well.
Maybe we are a tad bit biased when it comes to our favorite piece since we own a pair of the “Camos” ourselves, but this is definitely our favorite release so far from this partnership. The Superstars are already a vintage classic, but the added army/camouflage touch is the perfect chef’s kiss. Do you own a pair? We feel like every sneakerhead has owned one at some point by now.
- Our Favorite Piece: Dame 7 ‘Chinese New Year,’, $65
- Years: 2014 - Present
Okay we’re going to take things up a notch and head over into some of the sports collaborations. Adidas is underrated in this department in our opinion, as some of their shoe releases with athletes don’t always command the attention they deserve. One of those collabs is Adidas’ partnership with Damian Lillard. Dame has a great lineup of sneakers that highlight not just who he is on the court as a fierce competitor, but also his musician side.
Our personal favorite (and a favorite of many) is the Dame 7 LNY shoes, which have become one of Dame’s biggest sellers. The shoe was inspired by the Lunar New Year, and were specifically designed to represent Dame Time, which is a common phrase referring to his innate clutch ability.
- Our Favorite Piece: Derrick Rose x adidas "Scarlet," $110
- Years: 2008 - Present
Derrick Rose is another one who’s collection has been vastly underrated, and he's been with the adidas brand for fifteen years and counting. D. Rose has some killer shoes that you should definitely check out if you are looking for a new sneaker to add to your closet, and his releases are very similar to his overall persona as an athlete—quiet but lethal. There's plenty of shoes available to choose from in his collection with Adidas, and which sneaker you select is all about what you are feeling at the moment. Rose has a shoe for everyone, but we recommend the “Scarlet” sneakers from last year.
- Our Favorite Piece: Run DMC x adidas "50th Anniversary," $121
- Years: 1986 - Present
You can’t leave out the historic hip-hop group that made “My Adidas,” and the first rap group to ever land a brand deal. You just can’t. This might be the most fitting collaboration to happen in the history of, well...ever, and the two dropped a commemorative 50th anniversary sneaker that paid homage to the legendary group, and their sneaker style (Run DMC was known for wearing shell-toe sneakers without laces). You can still find this special edition sneaker for a reasonable price on secondary outlets such as GOAT and StockX.
Alexander Wang x Skate Super Super Core Black
- Our Favorite Piece: adidas AW Skate Super, $500
- Years: 2016 - Present
Alexander Wang and Adidas have come together on multiple occasions to drop a wide variety of sneakers ranging from standard trainers to skate shoes. It’s always nice when the worlds of high fashion and streetwear combine, and every sneaker from this partnership has been cutting edge while still staying true to their individual brand styles. For our favorite, we've got the Alexander Wang x Skate Super Super Core Black sneakers from 2018.
- Our Favorite Piece: Ivy Park x adidas Forum Mid ‘Cream White, $56
- Years: 2020 - Present
While Beyoncé and adidas' time together is reportedly coming to an end soon, the two are still continuing to put out collections (which have most recently been a part of the Renaissance tour costumes). One of our favorites from the brand was the Ivy Park x adidas Forum Mid "Cream White" from the Icy Park release a couple of years back, which was a sick shoe.
- Our Favorite Piece: The Simpsons x adidas Forum Low "Duff Beer," $88
- Years: 2021 - Present
Anything with The Simpsons has us automatically sold. Adidas and The Simpsons have come together on quite a few occasions to release a range of cool colorways. There are plenty of options to choose from if you desire to pick up a pair from this collection. You could go with the Forum Low “Duff Beer” which is a bright red, black, and gold silhouette if you want a bold shoe, or you could opt for something a little more simple such as the “Advantage” Simpson classics. It’s really up to you.
- Our Favorite Piece: Missoni x UltraBoost Clima "Multicolor," $220
- Years: 2021 - Present
With a focus on blending Missoni’s style and aesthetic with Adidas’ performance sport apparel, the two have produced fast-selling collections that have included not just sneakers, but also athletic and casual wear. For some reason, the Ultraboost has been Missoni’s go to choice for their sneaker collaborations (with Pulseboost coming in second), and there’s plenty available on the secondary market for you to check out. We recommend the Missoni x Ultraboost Clime “Multicolor” as it is a total representation of Italian luxury style that we are used to from Missoni.
- Our Favorite Piece: Bad Bunny x Forum Buckle Low 'Easter Egg," $560
- Years: 2021 - Present
Bad Bunny’s partnership with the three stripe brand is now officially two years old, with their first official release having dropped in March 2021. It’s always hard to judge how successful a partnership is going to be in the early stages, but all signs have pointed to this being a longstanding deal with more significant releases along the way. The “Easter Egg” sneakers were pretty dope, and remains our favorite from the duo.
- Our Favorite Piece: adidas x Prada Luna Rossa 21, $264
- Years: 2019 - Present
You know what they say—Prada or nada, and apparently adidas has the same mindset when it comes to their luxury collection. No luxury collaboration is complete without Prada, as adidas has been working with the brand since 2019. The A+P Luna Rossa 21 shoes remain our favorite from the collaborations (though there are plenty of other great ones).
The shoe itself consists of a PRIMEGREEN upper, a Boost midsole, and a wrap-around outsole providing style and comfort. If you aren’t able to grab a pair, then consider checking out some of their other drops as they are equally as stunning.
- Our Favorite Piece: adidas Skateboarding x Heitor Da Silva Forum 84, $110
- Years: 2022 - Present
adidas Skateboarding partnered with global Pro team rider Heitor Da Silva in November to release the Heitor Forum 84 Low ADV, a silhouette whose demand has catapulted within the skateboarding community, making it one of their most in-demand collections in 2022. Dressed in a wild brown colorway complete with purple accents and white laces, these sneakers are a further representation of the next-gen rider’s global influence and impact in footwear design and culture, along with Heitor’s vibrant character and style as both a skateboarder and creator.
- Our Favorite Piece: adidas x Maxallure Forum 84 Mid Adv Dre, $110
- Years: 2022
adidas Skateboarding and cult skate outfit Maxallure along with co-owner, shared Pro team rider and model Lil Dre linked up last year for the Maxallure Capsule Collection, which was just in time for the holiday season. The footwear and apparel took inspiration from quintessential prep school outfits and ‘70s collegiate styles, updating them with modern skate performance features, and showcases positive messaging through the capsule’s slogan “Think Beautiful Thoughts.” One of the best adidas collabs of 2022 in our opinion.
- Our Favorite Piece: Kader Sylla x Superstar ADV "Dark Purple," $239
- Years: 2022 - Present
In what has been a successful collaboration with global Pro rider Kader Sylla, the duo launched a follow up to their previous collaborations with the purple edition of the Superstar ADV by Kader Sylla. Sylla's designs with the brand are very creative with bold colorways, and improved fit, feel, and durability. This partnership continues to head down a creative path, with this newest release being a further example of that.
- Our Favorite Piece: adidas Trae Young 2.0, $77
- Years: 2018 - Present
Currently in their fifth year of working together, adidas x Trae Young are in no doubt the midst of working on the next drops for the 2023 - 2024 season, which is the next chapter in the icon’s footwear legacy. The Trae 2, our favorite piece, has forefoot branding inspired by the Adilette slide fused with the performance innovations of Boost and Lightstrike technologies that always allow you to stay ahead of the competition.
- Our Favorite Piece: adidas D.O.N. Issue 4, $54
- Years: 2017 - Present
This semi-new Cleveland Cavalier is off to a great start with the team, as he continues his signature D.O.N. releases with the adidas brand. One of the latest, which released this in October 2022, marked the start of a new era for both in which the shoe is the lightest and most advanced basketball D.O.N. to date, channeling Mitchell’s superhuman speed and agility. There's three different colorways present in this current batch alongside the Vivid Red pictured above along with Core Black and Carbon, and of course, you can always dive into the archives for past collections.
- Our Favorite Piece: adidas Harden Vol 6., $75
- Years: 2015 - Present
Since signing with the brand in 2015, James Harden has had a steady stream of banger collections, including the Harden Vol. 6 Basketball shoes, which have an old school 1990s basketball gymnasium vibe to them. Fun Fact: Harden actually gifted Lil Baby a custom 1/1 chrome colorway while in LA last summer, marking another cool moment for both Harden and adidas.
- Our Favorite Piece: adidas x Gucci Gazelle, $850
- Years: 2022 - Present
Gucci x adidas is quickly shaping up to be one of the premier luxury and athleisure collaborations in the fashion world. While easy to forget because of the instant success, this is a new partnership that just debuted in June 2022. The first collaboration featured over 60 pieces including sneakers, and next is up a surprise Après-Ski drop that is available to shop now.
- Our Favorite Piece: adidas x Stan Smith PRIDE RM Shoes, $110
- Years: 1973 - Present
What started as a one-off collaboration in 1973, has since turned into a lifetime (yes lifetime) partnership. If there's any one adidas shoe/collaboration that everybody knows (even the people who aren't by any means sneakerheads), it's the Stan Smith's. When you're talking 50 years of sneakers, it's hard to narrow down the best, but these recent ones that came out for Pride Month were pretty friggin dope.
- Our Favorite Piece: adidas by Stella McCartney Sportswear Shoe, $280
- Years: 2005 - Present
adidas and Stella McCartney have been working together now for almost twenty years, beginning their partnership all the way back in 2005. Not only are the results of their work amongst some of the most stylish pieces you could ever hope to own, but you can rest assured that those pieces are also sustainable ones because as we all know, Stella McCartney is the queen of sustainability.
